GL&V's new business unit flourishes Dorr-Oliver Eimco, created through the aquisition and integration of Eimco Process Equipment Co into Groupe Laperri6re & Verreault Inc's (GL&V's) Process Group late last year, has won contracts totalling C$10.0 million (US$6.6 million) in the mining and minerals sector: one in Africa and three in Anstralia.
Dorr-Oliver Eimco has landed an order worth C$4.4 million ($2.9 million) from SENET, a South African company, to supply process components for a wet treatment circuit for an iron ore producer in Mauritania, West Africa. This equipment will be delivered in November 2003.
it has also been awarded a C$3.8 million ($2.5 million) contract to supply leach residue and calcium carbonate pressure filters for the Stanwell project in Central Queensland, Australia, which will produce magnesium from magnesite ore provided by the Kunwarara mine. Estimated at approximately US$800 million, this project will start up in late 2004 and produce 97 000 tonnes of magnesium annually. The equipment supplied by Dorr- Oliver Eimco will be designed in Salt Lake City, Utah, manufactured mostly in Mexico and delivered to Australia by July 2003.
It has landed two other Australian contracts worth a total of C$1.8 million ($1.2 million). The group has been selected by EGOL to provide equipment to be installed in the flue gas desulphurization plant for HIsmelt (Rio Tinto)
in Western Australia. Using various technologies, this contract is part of a US$267 million project aimed at producing pig iron from iron ore fines. Finally, the company will supply Barrick Gold with an AgiDisc Filter for a gold mine in Western Australia.
