Wednesday Evening Bible Study is led by the Pastor. We are currently studying the book of Exodus. If you are interested in a more in-depth study of God’s Word, this is the study group for you. Join us every Wednesday night in the Fellowship Hall through May 22. Dinner will be served at 5 pm and the Bible study will begin at 6 pm. Dinner is only $4 for 13-up, $2 for 4-12, and Free for ages 0-3. Our last meal will be May 29.

Get Connected to LIFE - LIFE Groups help adults become developing followers of Christ by providing small groups of adults with similar ages, interests and family structures. They meet for interactive Bible study, connect through fellowship, become involved in ministry service and grow through accountability. LIFE Groups meet Sundays at 8:15, 9:30, & 11 am. Get plugged in to a LIFE Group at First Denton. Go to FirstDenton.org/lifegroups for a complete listing of LIFE Groups or email [email protected].

First Look is for those who have recently joined First Denton and for those considering becoming members. The next “First Look” is Sunday, May 5, at 5 pm in Fellowship Hall. Dinner will be served and our pastor will give you a “First Look” at First Baptist. You will be given the opportunity to join if you so desire. For more information or to RSVP, contact Judy Murphy at 940.382.2577, x150 or [email protected].

We have two groups of c o l l e g e

students going on mission trips in May. One group will be

going to Ethiopia and the other to Honduras. Pray

for these students as they go as our missionaries to take the love of Jesus to these parts of the world. May means that the end of

school is in sight and the end of school means Vacation Bible School. Chris Barfield, Shirley Jones and their VBS dream team are hard at work preparing for another great week for children June 17-21. VBS has always been a highlight week at First Denton and this year will be no exception. It takes hundreds of volunteers to share Jesus with hundreds of children. If you can give a morning, or five mornings, that week we need you. Just contact Chris Barfield or Shirley Jones and let them know you want to help out this year. Our building committee has been working hard for several months now. I hope you will pray for them as they continue the task of seeking God’s will to meet our current and future building needs. In the very near future they are going to be bringing to us their findings and recommendations. Let’s pray for a unity among us and for God’s direction and provisions for the days to come. These are exciting days to be a part of First Denton and the time is now to prepare for the next decade of ministry at First Denton. Stay tuned; great plans are coming soon! In His Love, Jeff

We were extremely pleased with the celebration of our couples that have been married 50 years or more. We had so many assist in the event that I know l will leave out someone. However, here goes! First, Judy Murphy always makes my ministry area look good. She picks up on the details for me. Martha Harris, picked up the flowers, and cut the cake provided by the Corley’s daughter, Gayla. Martha, Judy and Rosie Chadwell helped pin on the flowers. The Communications folks provided the beautiful programs and posters. Zac Simmons took our wonderful photos. The Wedding Committee along with Mary Tickner served the punch and cookies. Sandy Burke lined up the media folks and Jeremy Sale to run video. Keith McGee enlisted the soloists and Larry Champ to play the piano. Debbie Rains and the maintenance crew stayed busy with all the set ups for us. Ruth Johnson, Rosie Chadwell and Martha Harris served our luncheon on Saturday and Marci Spurgin and staff made us some wonderful salads. Tom Chadwell served as the narrator on Sunday evening. My daughter, Deborah Thomas and Joan provided the decorations on Saturday and Sunday. Our pastor always supports our ministry, so he and Tami were happy to lead in the repeating of the vows by all couples present.

Just another brief note! Our Branson trip is now open to friends of First Denton. The cost is $650 with the details in a brochure found by the Adult 55+ bulletin board.

We joyfully share this information with you in anticipation of meeting you personally. Whether you are new to the community or have been here awhile, we have a place for you. But even more importantly, God has a place for you and wants to change your life! If you want to accept Christ as your Savior and have certainty of eternal life, then pray this prayer from your heart:“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways. I believe You died for my sin and only through faith in Your death and resurrection can I be forgiven. I want to turn from my sin and ask you to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving me. Amen.”After you have received Jesus Christ into your life, tell a Christian friend about the important decision you have made. Follow Christ in believer’s baptism and church membership. Grow in faith and enjoy new friends in Christ by becoming part of His church and attending the Bible study class the church has just for you. You’ll find others who will love and support you.
