Choral Offertory | Sanctuary ChoirThe Majesty and Glory of Your Name | Fettke

When I gaze into the night skies and see the work of your fingers; The moon and stars suspended in space. What is man, that you are mindful of Him?

You have given man a crown of glory and honor,And have made him a little lower than the angels. You have put him in charge of all creation:The beasts of the field, the birds of the air, the fish of the sea.But what is man, oh, what is man that you are mindful of him.

O Lord, our God, the majesty and glory of your nameTranscends the heart and fills the heavens.O Lord, our God, little children praise You perfectly,And so would we, and so would we. Alleluia, Alleluia!

The majesty and glory of Your name. Alleluia, Alleluia! The majesty and glory of Your name. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Alleluia!

Mothers are precious gifts, not just on Mother's Day but forever. For one thing, they model unconditional love for us. For another, they demonstrate as long as we have them what it means to nurture. With few exceptions, mothers can be counted on to provide,

encourage, and love when everyone else falls away.

More than 20 years ago, Jimmy Carter wrote the following:

Before our family members were well known, a new reporter in town asked Billy (Carter, Jimmy's infamous brother) if he didn't agree that he was somewhat peculiar. He replied, "My mother went into the Peace Corps when she was 68 years old; my youngest sister is a holy-roly preacher; my other sister is 8 years older than I am and spends half her time on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle; my brother thinks he's going to be President of the United States! I'm the only one in the family who is normal!"

My mother was a lot like Billy. The following year, in January, I had just been inaugurated, walked down Pennsylvania Avenue, reviewed the parade with my family, and then begun to walk toward the White House for the first time. Eager reporters surrounded us, and my press secretary said "Don't anyone stop to answer questions." Typically, Mama ignored him and stopped to talk to the press. The first question was "Miss Lillian, aren't you proud of your son?" Mama replied, "Which one?"

Happy Mother's Day!!

The Helen W. Cox Scholarship SingersOur scholarship singers serve our congregation four hours each week by singing with the Sanctuary Choir and helping to lead and teach in our Children's Choirs. These college students are an essential part of our church family, and we are so proud of them and thankful for the ways they use their God-given talents in service to Christ's church. If you would like to help continue the ministry of our scholarship singers, please make note on your check or envelope. Our goal is to raise $8,000 for the 2019-2020 school year. Special thanks to Colin Kasefang, Nicki Caswell, and Cydnee Young for leading us in worship during the 11 am service last Sunday!
