Pray for our continuing search for a full-time Children’s Ministry Director and
for all of our Committees and Deacons as they minister on your behalf.
Dear Fisherville Fellowship,
We’ve started off the New
Year in a good way at First
Fisherville!
We have seen two
professions of faith. We
have celebrated Gavin
Allen’s bap sm.
We have surpassed our
Lo e Moon Foreign
Mission Support with
$38,715.36 collected!
We have had good a endance, and even
excep onal a endance at the showing of
Billy Graham’s new film.
We’ve experienced a wonderful church
family business mee ng last Sunday night.
Sco Trout shared an inspira onal
devo on. Jerry Keough presented a
glowing financial report, and a solid budget
for 2015. Brother Gary presented us with
new commi ee members ready to serve.
Tony Bond brought an encouraging report
from our Acts 1:8 mission and renova on
project. We were given an exci ng update
about a possible Children’s Minister.
Amen! We are off to a good start. May we
fulfill Paul’s words in I Corinthians 9:24,
“Do you not know that those who run in a
race, all run, but one receives the prize?
Run in such a way that you may win it.”
God Bless,
Bro. Jack
Acts 1:8 Challenge Fund
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has
come on you, and you will be My witnesses in
Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends
of the earth. (Acts 1:8, HCSB)
First Bap st Church Fisherville’s Acts 1:8 Challenge
Fund will strengthen our witness to our Jerusalem by
funding the renova on of our primary worship center
and the addi on of a Welcome Center. It will also
provide a founda on of support for funding
evangelism and missions in our Judea and Samaria
through partnerships with area ministries and Bap st
Associa ons. It complements our longstanding
commitment to reach the ends of the earth through
the SBC Coopera ve Program and North American
and Interna onal Missions Boards.
Gi s through December 31 to the Acts 1:8 Fund of
$77,000 are a beginning toward our goal of raising
$900,000 to complete construc on without a loan.
These funds, plus the other funds available give us
nearly $1.2 million toward our $2.1 million Fund goal.
That means that we can fund the an cipated
construc on through June without borrowing.
Please con nue to pray about how the Lord would
have you respond. “And everyone whose heart s rred
him and everyone whose spirit moved him came and
brought the Lord’s contribu on for the work of the
tent of mee ng and for all its service and for the holy
garments.” (Exodus 35:21)

GRADERS,
ARE YOU READY TO GET
F.I.T.?
This summer we will teach campers about the
spiritual practices that will help them grow in
their faith. We will chew on God’s word and
let Him be our teacher. The goal of this year’s
Bible study time is to provide kids with some
hands-on, practical, take-it-home-with-them
tools for using spiritual practices as they grow
their faith. For more information check out
their website. www.centrikids.com

Dear Church Family,
Thank you so much for your prayers and concerns
during my surgery and recuperation. A special to
Bro. Jack and John Bills for their hospital visits. I’m
confident God is still in charge.
I love you all.
Laverne Yancy
Thank you for each kind thought, prayers and your
many expressions of love during this time of grief.
We especially appreciate Bro. Jack, those who
provided music, and those who fed our family af-
ter the service.
Clyne Sparks and family
With the beginning of 2015, already a month and more into the new year, I am thankful. I am thankful for new beginnings, the beginning of my seventh year in your service here at FBCF, the blessing you are to me and Carol, your prayerful and kind support and love, and I am thankful for 2014’s year of music and ministry that culminated in the “Sound of Joy” and all of God’s people, our children, youth and church singing together God’s praises. Let’s do it again! AMEN!

I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. Psalm 63:4
CHOIRS IN WORSHIP! I’ve been reading ar cles of late deba ng the need for choirs in worship services, the pros and cons of church choirs. As I’ve read these ar cles I go back to what Scripture tells us about choirs. The Bible shows us that God loves all humankind to sing to Him‐‐choirs are featured in the Bible’s own descrip on of divine worship. The first organized choirs in Scripture can be found during King David’s me, as recorded in the Books of Chronicles. God set apart the tribe of Levi to serve Him. 1 Chronicles tells of how King David appointed no less than four thousand Levites as singers and musicians. These singers and musicians ministered day and night in the tabernacle and later in the temple‐‐these were some of the first earthly choirs assigned to serve God through song. Choirs with both men and women singers (Nehemiah 7:67; 2 Chronicles 35:25), were organized for worship in the tem‐ple and were placed under the direc on of able musicians (1 Chronicles 25). The Psalms, such as Psalm 6, show that choral singing was accompanied by instruments. Fi y‐five Psalms also indicate that there were directors of music, who led choirs in temple worship. I can’t think of anything more exci ng during worship than a choir lo full of faithful servants leading in praise! We NEED and WANT more faithful servants in our choirs‐‐children, youth and adults. If God has blessed you with the gi of singing, give it as a living sacrifice to Him by joining this very special ministry of choral music. You don’t HAVE to be in the choir, but you GET to be in the choir...the only qualifica on is a willing heart! God isn’t concerned so much about your ability… only your availability. “Each of you should use whatever gi you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its vari-ous forms.” (1 Peter 4:10 NIV) THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO USE THAT GIFT AND BEGIN SINGING IN A CHOIR!
