Golden Age 49th Anniversary

In 1970, Rev. David Turner presented to First Baptist Church a recommendation to create a Golden Age Club. The church

would sponsor the club, and membership would be open to the community.

Rev. Turner enlisted seniors to help organize the club. The purpose of the club included entertainment, information, life

enrichment outreach, and worship.

The golden Age Club held its first meeting on July 23, 1970. Thirty charter members attended. Mrs. Luna

Garrison (Linda Campbell’s Grandmother), the club’s first president presided.

There have been 588 regular Club meetings, numerous special

events, and many enjoyable trips.

The Club continues to meet the 4th Thursday each month under Christian leadership. We have a rich history and a bright future

with your help and attendance.
