Welcome to
Welcome MessageWarm greetings from TEAM ASICON 2020.
It is a true pleasure and an honour to organize and host the prestigious 80th annual conference of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASICON 2020) in the seaside city of Visakhapatnam from 17-19 December 2020.
Under the able and dynamic leadership of our beloved ASI President, Dr. P. Raghu Ram, we are immensely delighted to invite you on behalf of the Organizing Committee of ASICON 2020 to the
Executive & Financial capital city of the State of Andhra Pradesh. Often referred to as “Jewel of the East Coast” and as “The City of Destiny”, Visakhapatnam is ensconced between the hills of the Eastern Ghats and the coast of the Bay of Bengal. The city is home to the oldest shipyard, the only natural harbour on the east coast of India, Visakhapatnam Port, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, the Indian Navy's Eastern Command and South Coast Railway zone.
A cosmopolitan & vibrant city with people living in perfect harmony, Visakhapatnam is well connected to the rest of the world by road, rail, and air. Situated in the heart of Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam is a major tourist destination and is particularly famous for its serene landscape, picturesque beaches, the Eastern Ghats, wildlife sanctuaries, as well as a rich culture. Located a short distance away from Visakhapatnam is Araku Valley, a hill station replete with gushing waterfalls, lush green gardens and some challenging trekking trails, one of the prime attractions of this district. Nestled amidst the Ananthagiri Hills in Araku Valley, the Borra Caves are over thousands of years old and are the biggest among all the caves found in India.
We very much look forward to welcoming you and trust you would join us for a symphony of outstanding surgical knowledge, and also, taking some time out to enjoy the spectacular and unique beauty of this region.

ASI President’s Message
It gives me the greatest pleasure welcoming you to the picturesque Coastal City-Visakhapatnam in the Southern Indian State of Andhra Pradesh, which is hosting the landmark 80th Annual Confer-ence of The Association of Surgeons of India (ASICON 2020).
ASII Presiident’’s Message The three day Congress from 17th–19th December 2020 promises to be a seamless blend of Scientific extravaganza coupled with an ‘Away from it All’ Fellowship & Relax-ation. TheOrganising Committee very ably lead by dear friends, Dr. G. Santa Rao & Dr. P.V. Ramana Murthy alongside the ‘DYNAMIC TEAM ANDHRA PRADESH’ will leave no stone unturned to ensure your visit is enjoyable and memorable – like never before!
The Academic programme would focus on showcasing the best practices in the art & science of surgery in addition to laying emphasis on what you can learn over the weekend that can be applied in clinical practice on Monday morning. In an endeavour to encourage our trainees, who are in fact the “future of ASI”, and equally, to ensure their participation in big numbers, there would be a dedicated all day Pre Conference PG Master Class on 16th December 2020. I can assure you that the “new look” Scientific Programme would be displayed on ASI and Conference websites many months ahead of the Congress.
In closing, I reiterate my promise to ensure “Creative Leadership & Accountable Governance” in ASI. Look forward to your constructive suggestions and to the distinct pleasure of meeting many of you during the course of the year, and indeed, at our landmark Congress – ASICON 2020

ABOUT VISAKHAPATNAM
Visakhapatnam is a port city and industrial center in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, on the Bay of Bengal. It's known for its many beaches, including Ramakrishna Beach, home to a preserved submarine at the Kursura Submarine Museum.
Nearby are the elaborate Kali Temple and the Visakha Museum, an old Dutch bungalow housing local maritime and historical exhibits.
Hindu texts state that during the Fifth century BC, the Visakhapatnam region was part of Kalinga territory, which extended to the Godavari River.
Relics found in the area also prove the existence of a Buddhist empire in the region. Kalinga later lost the territory to King Ashoka in the bloodiest battle of its time, which prompted Ashoka to embrace Buddhism.
Visakhapatnam is surrounded by ancient Buddhist sites, most of which have been excavated recently and illustrate the legacy of Buddhism in the region.
