1091 Awareness generation and Capacity building

Since the past 18 months under Suraksha Setu Society, we have voluntarily undertaken plenty of activities to generate awareness for PoliceHEART; these include workshops, seminars, putting up stalls at college festivals, schools, industry associations, women groups, clubs, etc., conducting rallies, road shows, walkathons etc., putting up hoardings, banners, stickers on roads, AMC gardens, BRTS buses, malls, multiplexes. IAS and IPS, police officials, corporates and NGOs have also actively participated and promoted these having undertaken specific events like Suraksha Bandhan and Halla Bol. These drives have greatly helped in generating awareness but the recall hasn't quite been up to the mark. It is, therefore, very important that more activities are done to ensure high recall.

Why Defence ‘O’ Dance?To encourage girls-women to learn self defense. To demonstrate that for learning basic self defense it is as simple as learning to dance. To overpower your opponent through Mental Drill. To create awareness for safety and security of women.Sisterhood and bonding that comes from doing something together, standing up for each other. On Registration you would become a member of Defence O Dance Army and get lots of other benefits.

ConceptApprox 100 schools/colleges/clubs/corporates/ institutes/ organisations will participate.A group of about 30 women from each establishment would be taught dancing with self defence techniques on some appropriate music by self defence and dance experts.On February 1, 2015, at the Sardar Patel Stadium each group comprising 30 women will perform on the stage and risers while 25,000 women would learn skills and techniques of self -defence through dance forms. We aim to take Defence ‘O’ Dance to different cities of India.

Defence ‘O’ Dance Event Schedule

•On February 1, 2015, at the Sardar Patel Stadium, •Defence ‘O’ Dance would begin at 6.30 AM. •Approx 25,000 women would participate from all walks of life. •On the stage the main choreographer will dance with his team. Each group would follow the steps and learn skills and techniques of self defence through dance forms. •30 minutes of special session of ‘never-to-forget’ self defence techniques. •A session on Mental Drill to protect oneself during emergency situation and assault to overpower your opponent.
