It all started in Finland in 1982 with harness racing equipment manufactured under the well-known brand Finn-Tack.

A. Wither to Tail - measuring straight from top of wither to top of tail to find the EU blanket size in centimeters/inches.

B. Chest to Tail - from the centre of the chest to the furthest rear point of the rump measuring along the side of the horse

Most blankets are sized in three or four inch increments, so choose the closest size available. If your horse is between sizes you are usually better to go up a size than down, unless the horse is narrow chested or petite.

*If there are blankets we do not offer in size 75, keep in mind that these blankets run a little big in size 72 and a little small in size 78.

While bridle sizes generally will fit horse sizes according to the size chart, horse head sizes do vary, and you should test the bridle first to make sure it is a good fit. When the bridle is on, there should be a hand’s width between the chin strap and the horse’s jaw, two fingers’ width between the noseband and the horse’s nose, and you should be able to fit two fingers under the browband. The browband must not be so tight that it pinches behind the horse’s ears, nor be so long that it pulls the bridle forward.

BITSWhen measuring the bit size, always measure the length from the inside of one bit ring (or cheekpiece) to the inside of the opposite one. make sure the bit is straightened. The thickness of the bit is always measured just inside the bit ring. When placed in the horse’s mouth, tmen’s should be max. 5mm (1/4“) play on either side of the bit.
