The September Phlocking at the New Margari-taville Restaurant was quite the success. There was a record 75-80 members in attendance.

There were a lot of new members and some returning members as well. It was quite the crowd but the second floor of the restaurant was the perfect size to accommodate us all.

The “September School Supplies Drive” was also a success. Boxes, tubs and sacks of paper, pencils, markers and much more lined one side of the upper deck. The TPHC teachers were very appre-ciative of everyone efforts. Thank you all who brought supplies and took the time to go out and purchase some of the items from our ‘shopping list’. And a big Thank You goes out to new member Danielle Burris and Newfield Exploration for their very generous contributions.

“Talk Like a Pirate Day” September 19th

Talk Like a Pirate Day at Margaritaville was a real hoot. About 20-25 Parrot Head members and their families showed up all decked out in their pirate attire.

Margaritaville was very generous in offer-ing free appetizers to our club. A big thank you to them as well as the wait staff who did their best to keep up with us.

The tallwalker balloon artist was there making balloon animals for the kids and balloon hats for the grown-ups. We formed

a conga line while the volcano was preparing to erupt. One lil’ pirate was spooked by the volcano but survived to tell the tale.

It was a really fun night at the new Margaritaville

Restaurant. Hope to see ya next year.

There be Pirates here!

Thank You! to all those who donat-ed gifts: Jodie Rogers, Rebecca Land, Bob and Lynn Scott, Becky Eagan, Mike Weaver, Mike Casillas, Robbie Thames, Jack Kelsey, Dave and Neta Carrino, George and Carla McMillen, Don and Carol Jones, Jess and Mary Mitchell, Ron and Jeanette North, Jim and Jan Wollenschlager, Stacy DeMas, Chris Spencer, Judy Striegel, Janet and Gary Orton, Moo Devasher, Cindy Kramer, Debbie McKisick, David and Theresa Hubble, Trina and Char-ley Dawson, Larry and Vicki Eberle, Karen Hedge, Debbie Human, George Salley, Carrie and Patrick Eyberg

We raised $282 in the September raffle. The donation went to Clare-house, A community home for dying people, providing loving care for peo-ple in the last month of life.

The September raffle was again very well distributed. It baffles me how the new members always seem to win. But never the less it was a very profitable raffle with $282 going to Clarehouse. Thanks everyone!

The Alzheimer’s Walk is October 22nd

The “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” is always a great time not to mention it’s for an even greater cause!

Have You Registered Yet?!Held annually in more than 600 communities nation-

wide, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzhei-mer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and

funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on partici-pants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions!

When you participate in the Walk, your fundraising dollars fuel our mission, and your participation in the event helps to change the level of Alzheimer’s awareness in your community.

This year the event will be October 22nd and they will be

meeting/starting at the Guthrie Green down-town. Registration is at 8am, Ceremony is at 9am and the Walk starts at 9:30am

Every registered participant will receive a T-shirt after achieving the fundraising minimum. The walk is an all ages, all abilities event lasting 2-3 miles.

There are lots of ways you can help even if they can’t do the actual walk. We have ‘Fundraising Cans’ for people to put at their place of business. Let Cathy Boley know if you need one.

It’s a good time and a great cause. Click on this link to register: http://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk2016/OK-Okla-homa?pg=entry&fr_id=9243Some of last year’s participants

We have a Boat (chiller) filled with various goodies---we are raising money for Bob & Lynn Scott’s grandaughter, Delaney Shreive. She has been diagnosed with scoliosis. She is going to have to wear a brace 23 hours a day. The family cost for the brace is $1,000.00—plus various expenses to be incured.

We are going to sell raffle tickets for the boat (it will be at the october meeting) for $5.00 or 5 for $20.00—we will sell them at the October and November meet-ings.

One of our Phlock is in need & you can help!We need everyone to bring extra money foran EXTRA raffle at the October Phlocking

We are always raising money for organizations but now is our chance to help a wonderful family within our flock.

The Tirrell’s Bridal Party Takes a Trip to Wisconsin

to see Jimmy Buffett

Leaving Tulsa: Sarah, her mom, Maggie,

me, & my sister

I thought I’d share a few photos showing the dedication of the Tirrell Clan...Sarah (soon-to-be-Tirrell after she and Alex get married!) had always wanted to see Jimmy at Alpine Valley, so we road-tripped to Wisconsin to have a bachelorette party for her over La-bor Day weekend!! We converted several family members into new fans, and displayed TPHC logos at our tailgate tent!

Tailgating: all the above, plus my other sister & her two daughters who live in WI, and Sarah’s sister who joined us from Kansas City! (the rings hold jello shots!)

TPHC takes a Trolley to theKendall Whittier Neighborhood

The invite read,“Discover the delicious tastes ofKendall Whittier on a trolley-led restaurant crawl!”So a few Parrot Heads took them up on their offer.

Tuesday September 20th four TPH’s went to the “Taste of Kendall/Whittier”. Check in was at Marshall Brewery where we received a map and the places we were going to, as well as Marshall Beer or wine, and appetizers. There were two Trolleys one of which was marked the Red Trolley and the other was marked Orange, I believe for OU/OSU because there was also a Blue Bus which was for TU and marked as so. We hopped onto the Red Trolley and visited the following:Circle Cinema: gave us popcorn, caramel corn and a drink (water or soda)Calaveras: we had a piece of a Chimichango chips and salsaFair Fellows: was a coffee shop had a Smore’s coffee very goodMexican Bakery: were several samplings of bread, donuts and other specialties.

Then we stopped at the KWI Garden where we caught the Orange Trolley to: Cancun International: we had Enchiladas and a drink

Perry’s Meat Market: had offerings of their Chili, and various cheeses and ice cold bottled water.Freddie’s Hamburgers: had samplings of their Regular & Cheese Burgers, and French FriesCapp’s BBQ: had samplings of Brisket, Pulled Pork, Hot Links and water to drink.918 Coffee House: had samplings of iced coffee, spiced coffee, and tea (this place is where all of the TU students hang out.)Maxwell’s: had small crab cakes, mac & cheese was very good and they ran out of the main dish which I did not catch what it was and ice cold bottled water.

We then ended up back at Marshall’s and were given two tickets each for a drawing. The drawing was for 4 OKC Thunder Tickets for October 30th against the Lakers, would have been cool to have won them but we didn’t. The cost for the evening was $35.00 each and the proceeds went to Kendall/Whittier School. It was a great time and I saw a part of Tulsa that I had not seen before.

Early Saturday the 17th a group of TPHC volunteers found their way to the Emergency Infant Services building in down-town Tulsa. The one thing the volunteers and the EIS hadn’t taken into account was that there were two events going on downtown that morning. The first and most troublesome of the two was the “Fleet Feet Marathon” which had several blocks of the downtown area cordoned off. The second was the “RibFest” so it took a bit of imagination and skill to find our way to the EIS parking lot. Luckily every-one made it without incident or breaking any laws.

We did a lot of sorting and rearranging cloths for the EIS Boutique. It was good rewarding work and we got a lot done. Afterwards we set off for some refreshing Margaritas and a bite of lunch at the Maexicali Cafe.

Good Times!

Thanks Volunteers
