FINE ARTS AND PHOTOGRAPHY SOCIETY ANNUAL REPORT (2019-20) The Fine Arts and Photography Society (FAPS), Kirori Mal College, is a body of budding artists striving for excellence in the eponymous fields. Besides imparting practical knowledge in the fields of fine arts and photography, the society endeavors to maintain its position as one of the best cultural societies within the country. It is worth mentioning that the post holders’ as well as the members’ consistent efforts has helped in carrying on the legacy of the society. The session of 2019-20, has gone remarkably well under the excellent supervision of Ms. Geethanjali Kher as the society’s convener. The society had a total of twenty-five members pursuing different courses in this session. Events 1. General Trials: The students of the college were provided an opportunity to be a part of the society through the general trials. Approximately fifty candidates appeared for the trials and four were selected through critical rounds of evaluation and screening so as to maintain the level of the quality of work that is expected by a member of FAPS. 2. Freshers’ Talent Show: The society organized its annual Freshers’ Talent Show on the 20 th of September 2019, showcasing the skills of the new members through an exhibition. The theme of the exhibition revolved around the contemporary plastic waste problem. The society put up a remarkable yet grotesque installation which was symbolic of the theme and aptly named as ‘The Hurling Heaven’. This year saw the entry of six artists and four photographers to the FAPS team. The exhibition was graced by the presence of the college’s principal, Dr. Vibha Singh Chauhan, and was well-received by teachers and students alike.

FINE ARTS AND PHOTOGRAPHY SOCIETY

ANNUAL REPORT (2019-20)

The Fine Arts and Photography Society (FAPS), Kirori Mal College, is a body of buddingartists striving for excellence in the eponymous fields. Besides imparting practical knowledge inthe fields of fine arts and photography, the society endeavors to maintain its position as one ofthe best cultural societies within the country. It is worth mentioning that the post holders’ as wellas the members’ consistent efforts has helped in carrying on the legacy of the society. Thesession of 2019-20, has gone remarkably well under the excellent supervision of Ms.Geethanjali Kher as the society’s convener. Events

3. Trip to the National Gallery of Modern Art: The society organized an educational tripto the gallery for the members to explore the depths of modern art and employ theknowledge gained into their work.

4. The Artwalk: The society hosted an art walk with Miranda House’ fine arts society‘Adwitiya’ in association with OnePlus. The initiative was the first of its kind and waslauded by the participants as well as various other fine arts societies of the university.

5. Founder’s Day: The society showcased their brilliant skills by putting up an exhibitionon the college’s Founder’s Day. The chief guest and the Principal, along with variousother alums, graced the exhibition and appreciated the members’ skills which wereapparent in their respective works. The chief guest talked of his admiration for both artand photography and offered to help promote the influence of said fields within theuniversity.

6. Perceptions: The society organized its two-day annual event ‘Perceptions’ on the 20th-21st February 2020. It imitated every aspect of a professional exhibition and set a new

standard for all art exhibitions across the university. The exhibition had variousinstallations which illustrated the theme of social justice in their own way, stalls which

sold customized bookmarks and postcards, a workshop by photographer Mr. KunalMalhotra, and a plethora of competitions calling all the artists and photographers of the

university to compete against each other. The event was highly acclaimed by the generalaudience, teachers and participants.

To summarize, the session of 2019-20 has seen a significant amelioration in all aspects of thesociety. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude towards our Principal, Dr. VibhaSingh Chauhan, the society would not have had the requisite platform to work on which itcurrently has Mr. Satyendra Kumar, the convenerof Cultural Council of our college, hasbeen the light of our ambitions as we were provided ample opportunities through him. Lastly,we appreciate the efforts ofHarshit Kapoor, president of the society during the session of2019-20 and our post holders, Yuvvraj Singh (Vice President), Ashita Sharma andBhumika (General Secretary).
