1. Search for books on CityLibrary Search: www.city.ac.uk/library.

*Authors may refer to your business function using different words than is presented in the assignment, so it’s worth thinking about what these other words might be.

2. Use the bibliographies in your main textbooks to find authoritative in-depth resources endorsed by the textbook authors.

Most of these books will have a shelfmark starting with 658 followed by a decimal number specific to the subject. Activity: Let’s say your

Business function is HR management. What’s the standard shelfmark for it?

Expand management function

Click on the box next to your chosen function (expanding further as necessary) and click add to search.

After you’ve added your function:

1. Key into the top search bar search terms within your function

2. Click on Search.

To get trade professional or trade bodies journals, use the filter in the left side of the window to select Trade journals (you may have to click on More options for it to appear). Use other filters such as date, language and location to find relevant results.

These resources provide general news as well as Business news. Filter the subject to Business to view more relevant results.

Library Services has various biographies and resources on different leaders. If you come across somebody you’d like to learn more about, look them up on CityLibrary Search.
