PROJECT DESCRIPTION create a narrative emerging from an undergoung metro stop to a bicycle commuter station. utilize minimal surfaces as a formal technique and contextualize them into the function of the spaces. articulate qualities of the experience through surface performance.

PROJECTform generation exercise comprised of ribs and stringers based on precedent studies of the VILLA NM by UN STUDIOS. demonstrate technical understandings of formal techniques manifested in the vil-la nm - bifurcation, concave, convex, transition, mutation, distortion.
PARAMETERS1) begin with contour of simple shape. these will be known as ‘ribs’. 2) apply transformation based on precedents found in the Villa NM. 3) divide ribs into equal number of segments. connect each point from rib to rib via curve. these curves will be known as ‘stringers’. 4) loft the stringers to generate a surface. manipulate the surface so it envelopes only 60% of the form. 5) extract, dupli-cate, and offset isocurves in particular areas of the surface. then loft the off-set curves and the original isocurves to create a paneled exterior.

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONdemonstrate basic comprehension of design prin-ciples through the exploration of space. analyze an existing house through spatial relationships, order, and organization, as well as public vs. private spaces and circulation.
PROCESSfirst itemize the spaces by aforementioned prece-dents into simplified diagrams and identify areas where spaces interlock. then translate diagrams into three dimensional forms classified into ad-jacent spaces, public spaces and circulation.

PROJECTform generation exercise based on prec-edent studies of minimal surfaces, pri-marily focused on the batwing. explore configuration possibilities through com-binations of surface translations. the surface configuration will be used as the fundamental framework in the development of a module and a field.
