Topic Statement PURPOSE: The role the medical library community has

assisted in cancer research and cancer patient health information support.

SETTING: Hospital medical libraries and Health Resources Centers

DESCRIPTION: According to the American Cancer Society, in 2011 it is estimated that in California alone 163,480 new cases of cancer will develop. Medical Libraries are determined to assist health professionals and researchers with valuable clinical research information that could help save cancer patients.

Cancer patients want to learn about their type of cancer and it’s up to medical librarians and other resources health professionals to facilitate these services to them in a way they can understand.

Why a Blog?•Wanted to share my ideas and findings on cancer.•Learn to create a blog and gain a new tech skill.•Gain knowledge about libraries and librarians that focus on cancer research.
