INTRODUCTION

Outgrowing number of aspiring Filipino athletes are training with different sports facilities. With the athlete’s participation in sports competition, promoting fitness and wellness were encouraged to our aspiring athletes.

Page 3: Final Presentation Programming Concept

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Sports medicine focuses on athletes’ fitness and well-being. With the increasing athletes’ participation in sports competition, there has been increase harm sustained during their training and actual performances.

These facilities will provide optimum care to Filipino athletes that will aid in promoting physical fitness and sports participation.

Page 4: Final Presentation Programming Concept

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

• What are the facilities needed that will cater both medical and training facilities for the athletes?

• What medical facilities will help them boast their athletic performance?

• What architectural approach will promote to the wellness and physical fitness of the athletes?

Page 5: Final Presentation Programming Concept

GOALS & OBJECTIVES

• To provide efficient spaces for conductive wellness of the athletes

• To optimize design and location of key facilities

• To create an integrated design

• To achieve sustainable design

Page 6: Final Presentation Programming Concept

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Health is the primary concern of the athletes, providing them a healthy environment will improve the potentials making available to them every opportunity to reach their full capabilities.

RESEARCH FOCUS“INTEGRATING HEALTH AND WELL-BEING IN ARCHITECTURE”

• BIOPHILIC DESIGN

Biophilic Design Principle

Biophilic Design is an innovative way of designing the places where we live, work, and learn. In architecture, designing the building doesn’t not only involved functionality and mostly buildings nowadays are pursuing sustainability.

PROGRAMMINGPROBLEM DIAGNOSIS

The municipality of Rizal has numerous potential and aspiring athletes but doesn’t have the space to accommodate the needs for a sports training facility. Due to its strategic geographical location, Rizal has its benefits to accommodate national athletes in different region bounded by Metro Manila, Quezon, Bulacan and Laguna.

Antipolo city is the province’s capital city for educational and sports. Due to outgrowing number of national athletes, the government is planning to provide training facilities in preparation of the national athletes to international and local competition.

As there’s a outgrowing number of athletes, there is also has been increase in harm and injuries when in comes to their actual training and performance. Health and wellness of the athletes are always prioritized in promoting physical fitness encouraging athletes to adopt healthy lifestyle.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

ADDITIVE ARCHITECTURE

Additive Architecture is a synthesis of geometry, modulation and standardized elements of design.

Fig. Form Layout

The additive approach can be applied in the different building of the sports training facilities, which are basically identical but differ in sizes and height.

Page 48: Final Presentation Programming Concept

• The basic structural form for the sports complex is thus a simple braced steel frame. The braced steel frame gave a lighter structure overall, responding well in terms of performance while adding elegance to the building aesthetic.

STRUCTURAL CONCEPT

The design of the sports facility adds to the elegance of the overall structure, by reducing column sections, and matching structural zones with architectural zoning.

Page 49: Final Presentation Programming Concept

• LIGHT CONCEPT

UTILITY CONCEPT

Artificial lighting provides consistent, uniform and adequate lighting levels for indoor sports training facility.

• ACOUSITCS CONCEPT

To have a good acoustics, the internal wall surface of sports facilities should be strong and durable.

In addition with the application of the site concept, the different sports center are distance away with each other lessening the noise obstruction created by each building.
