Main Idea of the StoryIt is a story about a journey symbolizing the route

towards self-discovery. “By the river Piedra…”, however, could more

easily be described as a story of love, as it strives to show that “true love is an act of total surrender”.

At a deeper level, Coelho also gives the message that as there are no rules when it comes to love, there are no rules when it comes to worshiping God: “to love is to be in communion with the other, and to discover in that other the spark of God”.

is the university student in Zaragoza. She has a childhood friend and She was only 17 years old girls when her friend left her.

SoriaThis is the town that Pilar and her friend are

from. It is a small conservative town in Spain. They have childhood memories. They had a good time when Pilar was 17 Years old girl and She was having a good time with her friend. They play and enjoyed their childhood with each other.

ZaragozaZaragoza is where Pilar attends school. She

has a whole life there that she is willing to give up to find true love.

Pilar spent her life when her childhood friend left her. She was finding her True love. She felt that she has true feelings of love for someone.

Piedra RiverIt is believed that the river can rid a person

of pain and suffering. Anything that is thrown into the river is cleansed and eaten up, never to return. At the beginning, a nun advises Pilar to write down all her feelings and throw the pages into the river to cleanse her soul.

MadridThe city where Pilar is reunited with her

friend. Here she is introduced to the idea of the feminine side of God. There was conference of Pilar,s Friend.

In Madrid. Pilar meets her childhood friend and recalls the old memories and She feels that her friend is changed. She also feels that her Friend has different point of view about life and Religion.

BilbaoBilbao is the place where they went after

being reunitedPilar,s friend asked her to spend some time

with him when she was thinking to go back to Zaragoza.

She agreed and went to Bilbao with her Friend and She was having a long conversation with him.

BarcelonaBarcelona is the beautiful city of Spain. This

city is second largest city of the country.Pilar,s friend will have a conference in

Barcelona where He will have to go for presentation. But he did not go there and he canceled his presentation.

First JourneySan MartinThe village on the Mountain where they went

and they saw a church. Pilar wanted to go inside the church but one villager stopped her.

Pliar,s friend went inside the Church with Pilar instead of listening that man.

During this journey to San Martin Village. They shared their life time experience with each other.

Second Journey

LourdesIt was a Town where they stopped after

leaving the village. Pilar,s lover suggest her to spend her summer in Lourdes.

Pilar feels that its just a ghost town and she also came to know that six million peoples come here to spend their summer.

Saint SavinThere next stay was in Saint Savin. There

was a person named Saint Savin He invented a Well there in town and Religious people come there to spend their time on the well.

There was a Rainy day and They both enjoyed the rain and met other people.

In Saint savin Pilar woke up early in the morning and saw that Her Friend went somewhere instead of telling her about his plan.

Pilar felt so bad and She started thinking that all men are same and He left her like others. Then she decided to go back to Zaragoza. Suddenly She met a Padre who was there to help her in finding her Friend.

Journey with PadreWhen Pilar was worried about her friend.

Then a Padre came from somewhere and told her that he take Pilar to her friend.

Pilar asked him that how he knows her then he replied her that her friend told him everything

She started walking with Padre and they had a conversation about Miracles, Spiritual life and she felt that Padre can read her mind.

Third JourneyPiedraTheir third and last journey was to reach

Piedra where her friend told each and everything about his feelings and her friend told her that he asked God to take back his gift from him and he wants Pilar back in his life.

He told Pilar that he does not wand any more miracles in his life.

Cont…..Pilar,s friend left her there and went

somewhere after telling her truth. She feels so lonely and her mother told a story of a boy and a girl. This story was similar to Pilar and her friend.

A women suggest pilar to write her story on the papers and throw these into the river piedra in which everything become stone. Because the river piedra is so cold.

Cont…..She began to write her story on the papers.

Suddenly her Friend came here and tell her that he was trying to find her everywhere. He went Zaragoza and even he went Soria but he did not find her. Finally he found here near the bank of river Piedra and told her that he needs her in his life.

ConclusionSelf Awareness:The story revolves around Self Awareness. In

this story we can say that She was aware of her self and she knew that what she want to do.

This story tells us that how she believed that she feels something about her childhood friend,

The main point that diverse experiences of Pilar tells how to be self aware.

ConclusionBehaviorsIn this story, Behavior of Pilar and her Friend

is discussed. In this story we read that how they are motivated and how they think about each other, how they act and react to the situation.

PersonalitiesIn this story, We see that Pilar and her friend

have different characteristics, tendencies and temperaments. They have different personalities.

ConclusionPerceptionsPerception is another main point which is

briefly discussed and we see that How Pilar and her friend gather sensory information and assign meaning to it. They have different perception about life.

Self Disclosure Another main point is Self Disclosure which

means that how Pilar and her friend share their Thoughts, feelings and ideas with each other when they met in Madrit.
