Who would be the audience for your media product?

My personal target audienceMy personal target audience is males of the

ages 18+ because I feel that the movie is fairly dominated by males which I think would be more appealing to the male gender. The genre of the movie is a psychotic thriller which I feel would suit people over the ages of 18 because they would be able to understand the mysterious plot more than a younger audience would. In addition to this, I think that this movie would attract a female audience as well because of the main protagonist, Scarlet. I feel as if this character would be relatable to a female audience because she is a teenage girl which is a very relatable social group. The theme of crime is also something that I think a male audience would be more interested in and my thrillermovie includes crime as a common theme throughout.

What is the most common audience for a thriller?

In 2016, thriller/suspense movies were the fifth most popular genre bringing in a total revenue of $16.9 billion. The age rating for a thriller movie is usually a 15 certificate because of the disturbing plots, strong language and violence depicted in these movies. Also, it was found that the average audience for thriller movies is mostly woman and that they prefer to have a female protagonist which fits well with my movie. In 2014, the most common age group to visit the cinema to watch a movie was 15-24 year olds who took up 30.8% of total cinema sales (Sourced from BFI). I also found that the 15-24 year old age group are the most common viewers of thriller movies accounting for over 30% of total viewing figures.
