From the 16th to the 19th Oc-tober, the 1st FIM Europe ClubExperience on the road “Tu-scany 2015” took place, basedat the Hotel Borgo Tre Rose, carefully restored and rebuiltmedieval hamlet, located inValiano di Montepulciano, near Siena, in Italy.

The participants have had theoccasion to ride for over 350kilometres in the fantasticframe of a landscape charac-terized by barren and gentlywavy hills, oaks and lonely cy-

presses, isolated farms on topof the heights and stretches offorest in the valleys.

The programme included alsothe visits to the enchantingtowns of Montepulciano,Pienza, Montalcino and Mon-teriggioni having the opportu-nity to enjoy the typicalTuscan cooking and, in theevening, to taste some of themost famous red wines in theworld, among which “ChiantiClassico”, “Nobile of Monte-pulciano” and “Brunello di

Montalcino”.

We have asked to some of theparticipants to describe theirexperience developing fourthemes:

1 - FIM Club Europe as get-to-gether of people working inthe same field

2 - How important is to sharea passion

3 – Which kind of emotions“Tuscany 2015” has left

4 - Wishes for the future.

The first event of the FIM Eu-rope Club has represented agreat chance to discuss and tosee how other Federations arefacing the same issues andalso to produce some ideas forcombined actions.

It has been very nice to havethe occasion to be togetherwith other people sharing thesame drive passion.

We had an excellent impres-sion on both the organizationand the execution of the tour.

That area is fantastic and theplaces we visited were verywell chosen.

FIM Europe Club should there-fore continue with the samephilosophy and hopefully evenmore participants. The placesto held it in the future shouldbe as carefully chosen as thisyear, to give nice touring ca-pabilities on top of the mee-tings and in order to exchangeideas. We will organize thenext one, but in off road, inKavala/Greece next April.

I believe fundamental thatpeople working for commongoals know each other alsooutside the “institutional” oc-casions. The creation of theFIM Europe Club fully repre-sents this spirit, letting people

meet for a longer pe-riod than the usualduration of the for-mal meetings, and gi-ving the chance toexchange ideas andopinions about sub-jects of different na-ture and “not inagenda”. Motorcy-

cling is passion and to sharethe same passion with personstuned on the same frequencyincreases exponentially thehappiness to share this kind ofexperience. I know very wellthe area that we have visited, its history, social and culturalbackground as well as the be-auty of such unique landsca-pes. Therefore I felt like the

one who is inviting friends fora dinner, hoping that they willenjoy the food. The emotionthat these places have arou-sed inside people arrived evenfrom far away, has not surpri-sed me – effectively I expec-ted it – but their expressionsof sincere admiration andtheir happiness to have parti-cipated to this initiative havefilled my heart of joy. I thankAlessandro for the wonderfulidea of the FIM Europe Cluband for the perfect organiza-tion of its first event… but ad-ding just a small criticism: theevening wine was definitelytoo good!

Usually we meet each other in“official” occasions and talkabout different problems inhandling our sport and otheractivities. To create occasions, when we have the opportunityin a relaxed atmosphere, toknow each other better and to

share opinions in-formally is a way tosupport the growth

of our organization. Motorcy-cling above all is passion andjust if you share the same pas-sion you can better under-stand the motorcycle wordthat we have to manage. Tu-scany is one of the best placeswe have in Italy. Every mile onthe road we can enjoy a diffe-rent scenery with beautifulnature and many historical

places, where you can reallyenter in the past of our hi-story. The choice of itinerarywas excellent, giving us thefull spectrum of positive sen-sations. Therefore it repre-sents an excellent first try, which must be organized indifferent parts of Europe, sothat people coming from allFMNs will have the opportu-nity to share the same fanta-stic experience and passion.

Normally we meet at the con-ferences, which are quite for-mal and with focused

meet ing s .So, we prac-tically nevertalk outsideour regularspecial ity,w h i c hmeans wenever usethe fullcompetenceof our com-mission col-leagues. Atthe Clubevent, thesubject wasm o t o r c y -cling in alla s p e c t s .And by ri-ding toge-ther givesthe frien-

dship where experiences areexchanged.

When you ride, eat, having aglass of wine and basicallysleep together, you are in theworld of friends sharing thepassion for motorcycling. This

is where you can exchange ex-perience, visions and most im-portant for me – get a numberof new ideas, projects to startat home or more interestingdo together. Only sharing givesthe passion creativity, which isnot achievable under normalconditions.

I never thought I could feellike being Italian! I´m extre-mely happy I’ve had the op-portunity to ride Manicardi’sscooter. It was my first timedoing this, and it must be themaximum Italian feeling ridinga scooter in Tuscany, with Ita-lian friends. I’m still smiling, and the scooter is great fun toride. I´m also very happy formy new friendships.

I really wish FIM Europe Clubwill continue its concept, sim-ply because I would like to goagain.

If we could do it little earlierin the season, maybe we couldarrange it up here in the Nor-dics.

Riding together with friends andcolleagues on motorbikes meansto share the passion and to enjoya group of motorcyclists comingfrom different Nations, whichgives a feeling of solidarity.

In every place where we stop-ped, we took the occasion for di-scussions about our common

hobby and experiences.

We were riding through thewonderful Tuscany scenery, with a rich history and ma-gnificent villages and cities, and a tour like this has evenmore value. While spendingnice time together, it waspossible to speak about im-portant matters, like the de-velopment of touringactivities and the coopera-

tion between the Federa-tions. In the evenings, backin the nice hotel accomoda-tion, the group enjoyed thehigh quality of the Italianfood and especially the fa-mous Italian wines.

We all discussed about thepossibilities of touring eventson a larger scale, organisingfor many European motorcy-clists a large event, joining

forces and meeting friends ofour affiliated Federations, making use of their expe-rience and local knowledges.

About future events of theFIM Europe Club, I think thatthe character should remainlike it was this year and ga-thering motorcyclists comingfrom Federations, FIM and,of course, FIM Europe.

I was really curious to verify ifwhat had been thought as anincubator of ideas, as a mo-ment of positive confrontationand however as an occasion tospend good time together, would be successful. Perhaps Ihad supposed a higher partici-pation but, considering that itwas the first initiative, I wouldlike to underline the qualita-tive aspect and not the quanti-tative one. Inside the groupseveral different institutionalcomponents were representedand I have to say that they hadthe chance to dialogue long.

M o r e o v e rthere hasbeen the oc-casion to laythe futurefoundationsand, thanksto the ga-thering ofd i f f e r e n t

personalities of motorcycling, the occasion for business talkswas created.

This certainly is one of theaims of these initiatives. The“cement” of the pleasant at-mosphere surrounding thegroup was undoubtly the bikeand the pleasure to ride it instriking landscapes, not onlynaturalistic, but also historicaland artistic scenaries.

We are already working on fu-ture initiatives, and we ask ourFederations and Officials topropose new candidatures:Road 2016 and Off-Road 2017,being the Off-Road 2016 al-ready organized in Greece.
