ENTRY FEE SCHEDULE The Entrant understands and agrees that all fees and costs associated with this Entry must accompany the Online Entry Form. PreambleFollowingarealloftheRulesandRegulationsandEntryproceduresforfilmentriesintotheCanadianScreenAwards.Readthefollowingcarefullyandcompletelybeforeentering.

Overview

TheCanadianScreenAwardshonouroutstandingachievement in theCanadian television,digitalmediaandfilmindustriesandareadministeredbytheAcademyofCanadianCinema&Television.Each year Canadian ScreenWeek brings togethermore than 6000 key film professionals, craftspeople anddecision-makersfromacrossCanadatohonour,celebrateandpromotethetalentandaccomplishmentsoftheCanadiantelevision,digitalmediaandfilmindustries.Eachfall,theCanadianAcademyissuesaCall-for-EntriestoAcademymembersandrelatedindustrymembersacrossCanada.AnyCanadianfilmthatmeetsthecurrenteligibilitycriteriamaybeenteredforconsideration.Entriesaresubmittedbytheownerofthefilmortheowner’sAuthorizedRepresentative(seeDefinitions). NominationsNominating Committees are assembled from across the country, and nominations are tabulated by theAcademy’sofficialballotaccountants,PwC.VotingOnline voting information is emailed to the Academy’s Cinema Division membership following theannouncementofnominations. Each votingmemberof theCinemaDivisionBranch receives apersonalizedlog-inandmayviewandvoteonthenominatedfilmsthroughthewebsite.Allmembersmayvoteinallfilmaward categories. To verify or change yourmembership status, please contact theAcademy’sMembershipDepartment by 5:00 p.m. ET on January 12, 2018. No changes can be made once the nominations areannounced.WinnersAcademyBallotAccountantswill tabulatethewinners ineachCategory,oncethevotingperiod iscomplete.ThewinnerswillbeannouncedduringCanadianScreenWeek,March5toMarch11,2018.SpecialAwardsSpecialAwardRecipientsareproposedbymembers,andsubsequentlyapprovedbytheBoardofDirectors.

ProcedureforAppealstotheRulesandRegulations• AllAppealsmustbesubmittedbeforethefinalentrydeadlineofOctober6,2017.• AllAppealsmustbeaccompaniedbyTheAcademyofCanadianCinema&TelevisionAwardsAppealForm,

andcontainallappropriatedocuments.OfficialAppealsFormscanbefoundatwww.academy.ca/awards.• Appeals will not be taken into consideration for any Producer Credits under the Best Motion Picture

category.• All submissions of Appeals are to be received by the Awards Director before being considered by the

Inordertoenter,afilmisrequiredto:1. QualifyasaCanadianfilmproductionorco-production(MajorityorMinority)2. HavehaditsfirstcommercialreleaseinCanadainatheatricalvenueaccordingtotheparametersoutlined

inQualifyingScreenings;3. Have completed its Qualifying Screenings within the Eligibility Period according to the parameters

outlinedinQualifyingScreenings;4. Not have competed for nomination in any previous Canadian Screen Awards, Genie Awards, Gemini

AwardsorPrixGémeaux

ConditionsofEntry

1. TheEntrantwarrantsthatthefilmiseligibletobeenteredinaccordancewiththeCanadianScreenAwardsRulesandRegulations,ascontainedherein.

2. TheentrantrepresentsandwarrantstotheAcademythat:

(a) theentranthasobtainedallnecessaryrightsandpermissionsrequiredtotransfertherightstotheAcademyascontemplatedbelow,andhaspaidorwillpayallapplicableresiduals,royalties,reusefeesandotherparticipationswithrespecttotheAcademy’susageascontemplatedbelow;and

(b) thereisnolitigation,claim,proceedingordisputependingorthreatenedagainsttheentrantortheEntry,theadversedeterminationofwhichmightadverselyaffecttheAcademyorimpairtheAcademy’sabilitytoexploititsrightshereunder.

3. TheentrantherebydoestransfertotheAcademy,theright,inperpetuity,inanyandallmedianoworhereafterdevised,throughouttheworld,to:

a)incorporateoneormoreclipsofthisEntryintooneormoretelevisionand/orotherprogramsforexploitation(whetherwithand/orwithoutsoundtrack,includingmusicalscore);b)showanyportionofthisEntrytoAcademymembersasconsiderednecessarybytheAcademyinitssolediscretion;c)showanyportionofthisEntryduringCanadianScreenAwardspresentations;

d)archiveclipsofthisEntry(whetherwithand/orwithoutsoundtrack,includingmusicalscoreandincludingvideoclips,audioclipsand/orstillimages)toaninteractivestoragedevice,totheAcademywebsiteand/ortheWorldWideWeb;e)otherwiseuseoneormoreclipsoftheEntryforpromotionalpurposesfortheCanadianScreenAwardsand/orenhancementoftheimageofCanadiancontent;

f)reproduce,reformat,modifyand/oreditanysuchclipsforanyoftheforegoingpurposes;andg)transferanyoralloftheabove-mentionedrightstooneormorethirdpartiesfortheaforesaidpurposes.

AlloftheforegoingrightsaretransferredbytheentranttotheAcademyforuseinconnectionwiththecurrentand/orfutureCanadianScreenAwardsShows.TheentrantherebyagreestoindemnifytheAcademyfromanyloss,liability,cost,expenseand/ordamage,includingreasonableattorney’sfees,sufferedbytheAcademyarisingfromtheforegoingtransferofrightsincludingwithoutlimitationanybreachoftheentrant’srepresentationsandwarrantiesabove.

4. TheAuthorizedSigningPersonownstheproductionrepresentedbytheEntryorisauthorizedinwritingbytheownertosubmitthisEntry.

5. TheEntrantmusthavereceivedanon-screencreditintheCategoryinwhichtheyareentered.Acopyofthecreditlistasitappearsonscreen,isarequirementuponsubmissionoftheEntry.Inthecaseof

disputeconcerningcredit, theAcademyreservestherighttodetermineeligibility. Inthecaseofalldisputes,thedecisionoftheAcademyBoardofDirectorswillbefinal.

6. TheEntrantgrantstheAcademytherighttoteleviseclipsofuptotwo(2)minutesinlengthduringthe Awards presentation, to show the whole or any portion of the film during special Academyscreenings. If required, theProducermustmakesufficient screeningcopiesof the filmavailable sothateachAcademyofficemayproperlyserviceitsmembersforvotingpurposes.

7. TheEntrantwarrantsthatallrights,includingrightstothemusicalscore,necessarytoexhibitthefilmwithin the context of Academy events and the Canadian Screen Awards, are assigned to theAcademy.TheEntrantfurthergrantstotheAcademyinperpetuitytherighttouseanyEntryfortheCanadianScreenAwardsand/orenhancementorpromotionofCanadiancontentand/ortheawards.TheEntrantcovenantstoindemnifytheAcademyfromanylossordamagesufferedbyitintheeventthatallsuchrightshavenotbeentransferred.

8. TheEntrantwarrantsthatallindividualssubmittedforconsiderationhereinhavebeennotifiedofthisEntry.

9. The Entrantwarrants that the online entry form is accompanied by all required documentation asoutlinedinHowtoEnter.InanycaseinwhichtheAcademydeterminesthattheinformationrequiredtobeprovidedbytheEntrant is inaccurateor incomplete,andthatthefilmistherefore incorrectlyentered,theAcademyreservestherighttodeclarethefilmineligibleforNominationsforanyAward.

10. TheEntrantacknowledgesandagreesthattheAcademymay,atitssolediscretion,determinethatnoAwardsbegiveninanyCategoryinwhichthefilm(s)entereddoesnotmeetAcademystandardsorinwhichthereareinsufficientEntriesasoutlinedintheCategorybreakdown.

11. The Entrant agrees that theAcademyof Canadian Cinema& Televisionwill rule on any dispute inmattersrelatingtotheEntry,Eligibility,Nominationsand/orselectionofanyfilmforanAward.TheEntrantacknowledgesthattheAcademy’sdecisionshallbefinal.

12. TheEntrant agrees that theAcademymay request three (3)DVDorBlu-Ray copiesof thewinningfilms.

13. The Entrant grants to the Academy, in perpetuity, the right to transfer a copy(ies) of the Award-winning film to a volume-storage device, for purposes of archival storage, as the Academy deemsnecessary.

14. TherewillbenorefundsforEntrieswithdrawnfromcompetitionafterOctober27,2017.

15. BysubmittingafilmintotheCanadianScreenAwards,theentrantunderstandsandacceptstheRulesandRegulations.

16. Atthetimeofentry,theEntrantagreestomaketheirfilmavailableforthedurationoftheCanadianScreen Awards process; accessed via streaming video on a secure website, maintained by theAcademyanditspartners.

Note:Filmsmaybesubmittedinanylanguage,howeveritisrequiredthatfilmsbesubtitledinEnglishforthepurposes of the membership online voting period and for the use of Nominating Committees. A detailedsynopsisofthefilminbothofficiallanguagesmustbeincludedonline,atthetimeofentry.

DRAMATICTHEATRICALFEATURE-LENGTHFILMS

QualifyingScreeningsCommercialScreenings

1. DuringtheperiodofJanuary1,2017throughtoDecember31,2017aminimumofone(1)consecutiveweek (7 days) of screenings in a regular commercial theatre to a paying audience in at least ONE ofCalgary, Edmonton,Halifax,Montreal,Ottawa,QuebecCity, Saskatoon, St. John’s, Toronto,Vancouver,Victoria,Winnipeg.

Note: A letter from the film’s distributor and a letter from the film’s exhibitor, confirming the dates andvenuesofsaidcommercialrelease,istobeuploadedatthetimeofentry.OR2. During theperiodof January 1, 2017 through toDecember 31, 2017, acceptance into at least two (2)

AcademyapprovedCanadianfilmfestivals*.Note:Aletterconfirmingthescreening(s)fromafestivaldelegateistobeuploadedatthetimeofentry.ClickhereforacompletelistofapprovedCanadianfestivals.

Note2:FilmseligiblebasedonfestivalacceptancesarerequiredtoconfirmintendedtheatricalreleasewilltakeplaceBEFOREMarch11,2018,inordertobeeligibleforentry.Note3:Afilmmayonlyenterifitsfirstpublicexposure(throughfestivalsand/ortheatricalrelease)waswithin1.5yearsofcurrenteligibilityperiod.

AwardRecipientsAwardswillonlybegrantedtopersonsreceivinganeligiblecreditinanenteredfilmorwhohavereceivedcreditinpositiveprintsofthefilmintheappropriateAwardCategories.Note: Minority co-productions are eligible to be nominated for Best Motion Picture as are the craft andperformancecategoriesinthosefilmswhereCanadiansreceivedaneligiblecredit.Where,however,thedirectorand/or screenwriter(s) are Canadian, a minority co-production will be deemed a majority Canadian co-productionforthepurposesofeligibilityinallcategoriesofthefilmawards.

EntryProceduresThefilm’sAuthorizedRepresentative(SeeDefinitions)mustagreetoallConditionsofEntrydetailedherein,andcompleteanonlineentryformbyOctober16,2017.Thefollowingwillberequiredaspartoftheonlineentryform:1) ThecompletefilmuploadedtotheAcademy’ssecureentrysite.Thedigitalfilemustinclude“burnedin”

EnglishsubtitlesifEnglishisnottheoriginallanguageofthefilm;

2) Acopyofthecompletescreencreditsastheyappearinthefilm;3) Ashortsynopsisof60wordsorlessofthefilminbothofficiallanguages;4) High-resimagesofallenteredperformersanddirectors(300dpi.jpg);5) High-definitiontrailer(orHDclipsdrawnfromfilm,120secondsinduration)

6) High-resimageofthetheatricalposter;7) Canadian Certification from either CAVCO or CRTC; or a letter of Certification stating the Canadian

percentageandotherifthefilmisanofficialCanadianTreatyCo-Production.Ifacertificationnumberhasnot been delivered to the entrant at the time of entry, a signed affidavit confirming the film is 100%Canadianmay stand in its place until certification is received, atwhich point the confirmation numbershouldbeforwardedtotheAcademy;

8) Two(2) lettersarerequiredconfirmingthedate(s)andvenue(s)ofthefilm’sscreening:Oneletterfrom

theDistributor and one letter from the Exhibitor(s); If qualifying based on festival acceptance, a letterfrom the festival confirming acceptance is required upon entry; or in the case of festival eligibility, theintendedtheatricalreleasedate;

9) TotalEntryFee,asapplicable(SeeEntryFeeScheduleatbeginningofthisbooklet);In the caseofmultiple individuals entered inoneCategory, theperson listedas “primary recipient”will beconsidered thedesignated spokesperson for the award, unlessotherwise indicatedby theEntrant.Note: theentry must include current home addresses, phone numbers and e-mails of each individual entered forconsideration in order to notify nominees in adequate time to receive their Certificates, Award Ceremonytickets,etc.ProductionCompanyaddressesarenotacceptable;10) In the event of a BestMotion PictureNomination, the Entrantwill permit one public screening of the

Entry in each of Vancouver, Montréal and Toronto (and other destinations across Canada), to beorganizedbytheAcademyforpromotionalpurposesin2018.

TheNominatingCommitteesforTheatricalShortsandDocumentarieswillselecttheNomineesintheCategoriesof Feature Length and ShortDocumentary, Animated Short Film and LiveAction ShortDrama, aswell as BestEditingandCinematography inaFeatureLengthDocumentaryataNominationScreeningWeekend.Nomineesforfinalballotingwillbeselectedbyconsensus.
