Short Film ResearchBy Daniel Grevatt
Voice Over (by Martin Rosete)• Voice over has inspired my film by
showing me its unique style of filming and the style of film that I may want to produce. For example the entire dialogue in this short film is a voice over, over the screenplay that is going on in the film. In my short film I would like to use a voice over style, this would be accompanied by the actions that are taking place on the screen.
• Also I think that the unique ideas that are ‘random’ and are quite abstract have inspired me to think ‘out of the box’ with my film ideas and the style that it is shot in.
The Black Hole (by Williams and Sansom)• This short film has inspired me by
showing me how creative that this short is. It shows a man discovering a mysterious ‘black hole’. Even though this idea is very simple, it is also very effective as the main character in the short is shown to be greedy and how it backfires on him.
• This film has influenced me because it shows me that shorts can be entertaining but also have a morel in them. This I what I want to use in my short, not an obvious moral but one that would be hidden in the short itself. As this film does.
Rumblefish (by Francis Ford Coppolla)• Rumble has an interesting concept.
Throughout the entirety of the film it is mostly filmed in black and white. It focuses on a teen who is under the shadow of his older brother and how he aspires to be like him. This film has many hidden messages and also reflects on time and how we should move on from things.
• I think this film has inspired me the most because it shows how time is something we should not take for granted and how we use/waste that time that we have. This is what I want to show in my short however I will focus on a different aspect on time and focus around the concept of what you do with it. This film has also inspired me by the way it has small monologues, this is what I would ,like to do in my film .
