Film Poster Analysis

Page 2: Film poster analysis

•Today in class we was looking at film posters and

talking about what we thought of them, so I just thought I will share my ideas with you guys.

TransgressThe film poster 'Transgress' was one that we analysed and thought that it looks like a road safety poster which we normally see being advertised on bus stops. The element of the poster that made me think this way was the fact that the guy is lying in the middle of the road all most as if he had been hit by an oncoming vehicle. The tagline for the film poster all so supports the fact that the short film might be about road safety as it states 'Hindsight is everything', this draws the audience in as it gives the audiences an insight in to what the film could be about, which will intrigue them. (It intrigued me very much as I watched the short film after seeing the poster).

The Climb• This film poster doesn’t tell the audience much about the

films story as the only two elements that you can uncover from looking at the film poster is that it could be about a couple and their climb in life to make a much better one or it could have a direct relation with graffiti. The graffiti its self gives us the feeling that, it’s a rather urban location which very colourful but not appealing.

• Overall I didn’t really like this poster as I don’t feel it tell the audience anything about the story, which makes it very boring and un-intriguing.

Lethal Innocence • This film poster suggest to audiences the type of film it could be, for

example. The imagery helps reach out to an audience who may enjoy watching films which involves seeing a particular character looking as if they are being left out or even being bullied. This is expressed through the facial expression being projected by the blond haired character on the cover and the fact that the girls behind are laughing expresses the idea of her being bullied.

• The poster its self is one that is eye catching, giving the facial expression of the blonde character and the focus of the shot helps audiences understand that the main character is the girl on the cover and the girls behind her, are the people causing her grief.

• The title its self uses juxtaposition of words ‘Lethal and Innocence’, this could be giving an insight of how the characters mentality may be like.

Euphonia • This poster suggests that the film is about

recordings as there is a recorder on the poster. The bloody looking affect which is appearing to be coming out of the recorder could be expressing that the films plot could be one that is sinister.

• However the poster is very simple and direct which helps keep the audience intrigued without giving much away about the film.
