Abstract A three-dimensional model of the dayside magnetopause is developed on the basis of the artificial neural network (ANN). The ANN algorithm enables us to obtain a more elaborated pattern of the solar wind interaction with the Earth’s magnetosphere. The ANNs are used to define the relative effects of both the individual parameters of the solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field and all their possible combinations. The dependence of the three-dimensional shape of the dayside magnetopause and its sizes on the dynamic pressure of the solar wind, as well as on the Z and Y components of the interplanetary magnetic field, has been established.
