figure painting: mid-point reflection

1
This is the first experimental figure painting sketch. I started of using a diluted thin blue paint for the out line, similar to the yellow maker we used during our marker drawing. I tried using a variation of brush strokes and experimented with the type of texture it will create. The proportions a slightly of because it was hard to show the thickness of the clothes, which makes the body look fatter then it should be. This was my second attempt, however it ended up with only out lines, which isnʼt bad because it looks ok, however since it doesnʼt meet our objective I decided to move on. This is my last experimental figure painting sketch. For this painting I took a different approach in the way of painting and I used a palette knife. This was inspired by the technique used by Nielly Francoise, a French modern portrait painter. Her pieces do not focus on realistic colors and are often filled with very fluorescent colors so I did the same. This style of painting was very interesting and I enjoyed it a lot. For my final 2 week painting I am planing to use the same style I used for the third experimental painting. However from reflecting on these three experimental paintings I would like to focus on proportions before anything else, since if the structure of the figure are not right then everything else will turn out bad.
