Introduction Welcome! You’ve purchased a Warhawk Heavy Lander. You’re in for a treat.

If you have more than one kit, I suggest you build at least one to completion before starting the

others. You can assembly-line those if you want to, but it is best to figure out what you’re doing

before that stage.

You may decide to remove the paper/plastic from the parts either all at once or as you use the

pieces. I feel it is easier for the first one to do it as you use the pieces.

You will need:

a. Glue (CA glue or an acrylic cement)

b. Rubber bands, clamps, tape, etc.

c. File or sandpaper

d. 1/16” drill bit and pins (optional)

Cleaning the white dust. A damp cloth will clean the dust off of the pieces. You’ll want to use

different pieces of the cloth as you go; otherwise you’ll just be wiping a white cloudy coating

over the pieces. A paper towel will also work since all of the pieces are smooth enough not to

tear the paper.

Removing the plastic backing.

o On your first one you might want to wait until you need the piece before taking off the

backing because it is easier to compare with the orientation on the diagrams if you

know which side is up. (Believe me; it is possible to assemble the pieces with the etched

side on the inside if you are not careful!)

o (Optional) Take a soft felt-tip marker (Sharpie or dry erase, etc.) and draw a pattern on

each piece after the white dust has been removed but before the backing has been

taken off. Use your initials or something that will look wrong if viewed from the back

side. This will help you keep track of which side is inside and which is outside.

o The easiest way to remove the plastic backing is to convince someone else to do it.

Teenage children work the best. Barring that, start at the corner.

The great thing about this model is that you will be able to dry fit just about every part. It is also best to

work in sub-assemblies. Let’s start with something easy.

NOTE: In the illustrations RED lines refer to the lightly cut ‘scribe’ marks. Black lines are cut through.

White filled pieces are 0.08” thick while the purple ones are 0.22” thick.

Pictures of the work-in-progress design can be found here:

to correspond with the right side of the front. Glue the bottom piece to side 1.

2. Apply glue to side 1 and then to the bottom to attach the VTOL front.

3. Apply glue to the bottom and the right side of the front. Attach side 2.

4. Repeat three more times for four total VTOL thrusters.

5. The VTOL thrusters attach to the front hull sides and rear hull sides in the areas indicated by the

rectangles on each piece.

Figure 5: Front Hull iso view

Be very careful to keep track of the orientation of the pieces so you don’t end up with the etched side

on the inside!

Dry fit the whole assembly before you start to glue.

1. Start with the bottom, the rear, and side 2a (unless you are left handed, then use side 1a) to

construct the corner of the box.

2. Add the other ‘a’ side and the top. You should be able to secure this assembly with a rubber

band at this point.

3. Add side 2b, being very careful to orient the piece correctly next to 2a. It should be able to

stand on its own.

4. Repeat with 1b.

5. Add the front hull upper ramp next.

6. Finally, add the front hull assault ramp.

Figure 7: Spine

The spine assembly is a very simple box and can be dry-fit easily.

1. Insert the spine bottom into the two side pieces first.

2. Place the spine top on the assembly, ensuring that the more intricate pattern is towards the

front of the assembly.

3. When gluing you will want to use either the Front Hull Rear or Rear Hull Front to ensure that the

spine will key into those panels correctly.

1. The wing is a simple stack, but make sure you get the alignment right. The above figure shows

the pieces required for the port wing. Note that piece wing 5 has downward-facing detail while

all other pieces have upward-facing detail.

2. Use the wing end and a rear hull side piece to ensure that they are tight enough to fit into the

slot.

3. All five pieces share the same top/rear edge and can be aligned to that.

The rear hull is another assembly that will dry-fit easily.

1. Using the six main 0.22” pieces (bottom, back, front, top, side 1, and side 2) you should be able

to fit the box together easily.

2. You don’t have to glue the Engine 6a/6b pieces, but they are included as they help with ensuring

the correct orientation of the scribing detail.

3. The exhaust port piece is glued flat on the rear hull back.

Figure 13: Engine pieces. Note the roman numerals!

1. The engine side pieces are numbered with roman numerals that correspond to the numbers on

the rear hull front. The numbers correspond to the port side. They are mirrored on the

starboard side.

2. Once you get piece 6 in place the rest simply key off of that. Pieces 1, 2, 3, and 4 have a thick

tab and a thinner tab. The thinner tab is always more ‘clockwise’ than the thicker piece. Piece 5

only has a thinner tab.

3. Pieces 2 and 3 have a scribed ‘box’ detail that is picked up by the engine hex cap and then the

circle cap.

4. The resin intake fan attaches to the Engine Circle Cap.

and corner.

2. The tail support piece lays flat on the rear hull top with the notch in the back. The main tail

piece has a stepped tab that fits into the tail support and the rear hull top. (You might want to

keep this detachable for transportation purposes!)

3. The rear hull spine bracket also has a detail piece attached, as shown. Both pieces share the

front edge and corner.

4. The rear hull spine bracket connects to the rear hull front as show below. When gluing these

pieces it is advisable to insert the spine into its slots to guarantee that the all fit together.

5. The rear engines exhausts (white cake frosting bag couplers) stack on the 1.96” disks which in

turn stack on the circles etched into the rear hull back and exhaust ports. You may need to use

some additional type of glue like Elmer’s or hot glue.

2. The cockpit front attaches to the cockpit top and the front hull upper ramp by its edge only!

3. The cockpit side pieces attach to the cockpit top and front by its edges only as well. The long

edge of the side is the free edge, the second longest edge connects to the cockpit front, and the

third shortest edge connects to the cockpit top.

4. You may want to use some putty or blu-tack to hold the piece(s) while they dry.

1. Each Land Raider grapple starts with a sandwich formed with forward LR1, forward LR mid, and

forward LR2. While allowing the glue to dry it might be a good idea to insert a piece of 0.22” in

between the ‘barrels’ or the sandwich, such as rear LR. Note that the scribed detail on LR1 and

LR2 should be on the outside.

4. Since this is the most delicate portion of the whole grapple, 1/16” holes have been pre-drilled in

the main grapple and LR bottom pieces so you can use pins or finishing nails. (You will have to

drill into the edges of rear LR and the LR side support pieces.)

Figure 25: LR grapple fixed portion.

5. To use the Land Raider grapple, insert the LR forward sandwich into the LR grapple fixed portion

and secure with the pin. The fixed portion should fit in-between the Land Raider rear exhaust

stacks, while the forward sandwich slides under the assault ramp.

1. A landing gear is assembled by inserting the gear support into the main pad. (I have included

the cut-out pieces to protect the spindly bits during shipping.)

2. The front pad can be laid flat with the main pad or set at an angle. You may want to support the

front pad with a 120-degree wedge.

3. The landing gear assemblies fit into the front hull and rear hull bottom pieces.

Transport Assembly (wing) 1. The wings insert into the rear hull sides as keyed.

2. The 4” bolt inserts up through the rear hull bottom and into the threaded hole on wing piece 3.

(If the wing piece thread gets stripped you can insert a nut through the rear hull upper turret

ring.)

Transport Assembly (grapples) 1. The grapples attach to the spine by being inserted into the notches on the bottom of the spine.

2. The two ‘Land Raider’ notches are the ones not underneath the turret rings on the top of the

spine.

3. The grapples are then attached to the spine by inserting a bolt into the bottom of the main

grapple piece and into the threaded hole on the bottom spine piece.
