A  Regional  Land  Tenure  Framework  for  Asia  and  the  Pacific?    UNESCAP  working  with  FAO,  UN-­‐HABITAT  Regional  Office  for  Asia  Pacific  (UNHABITAT-­‐ROAP)  with  the  support  of  the  World  Bank,  GLTN  and  FIG  is  intending  to  embark  on  a  regional  land  tenure  iniDaDve  for  Asia  and  the  Pacific.    It  has  to  be  appreciated  that  Asia  and  the  Pacific  as  a  region  has  geographical  scope  that  stretches  from  Turkey  in  the  west  to  the  Pacific  island  naDon  of  KiribaD  in  the  east,  and  from  the  Russian  FederaDon  in  the  north  to  New  Zealand  in  the  south,  the  region  is  home  to  4.1  billion  people,  or  two  thirds  of  the  world’s  populaDon.  The  region  is  diverse  on  all  counts,  to  say  the  least.
