THE CANDLES FOR THIS WEEK FOR THE ALTAR & SANCTUARY ARE LIT IN MEMORY OF OUR 1ST PASTOR FR. ANTHONY RYDER ON THE 30TH ANNI-VERSARY OF HIS DEATH (5/3/85)
Our Parish Mission: By the grace of God, we, the people of the Roman Catholic Parish of Saint Frances Cabrini, firmly rooted in the Apostolic Tradition of the Church and the Holy Scriptures, are
called to continue the mission of Jesus Christ to build up the Kingdom of God in the world through our faithful living according to His teachings, our proclamation of the Gospel by word and deed, and the
worship of God in our private prayer as well as in our public celebration of the Sacraments. We have the strength for everything through Him who empowers us!

FIFTH WEEK OF EASTER
REFLECTION ON THE LITURGY OF THE WORD
A s the world of nature blossoms with the fresh growth of springtime, today’s Easter Liturgy bids us sing a
new song to the Lord. Through holy Baptism God has worked won- ders, helping the Church grow through the gift of new members, joining all of us as living branches to Christ the true Vine. Through the strength this celebration be- stows, may we glorify God by bearing much fruit and becoming more fruitful disci-ples of the Risen Jesus.
Each year on this Fifth Sunday of Easter, the reading from the Acts of the Apostles gives comfort to us by showing the first Christians working to-gether to move beyond conflict to increased growth and more faithful witnessing. We see Paul, who first persecut-ed those who were followers of “The Way” (what the fol-lowers of Jesus were called before the name Christian), becoming the “Apostle to the Gentiles”, one of its most effective preachers. The First Letter of John bids us al-ways have confidence in God’s boundless love. In the Gospel Jesus reminds us that it is just through this confi-dence, love, patience and unwavering trust in God that we remain in Jesus and bear much fruit.
