WWF-Malaysia One-day Field Trip Proposal

Agenda for Kuala Selangor and Sekinchan Educational Trip

6:30am Participants meet the WWF-Malaysia representative at a pre-arranged point in Petaling Jaya or Kuala Lumpur. Note: The WWF-Malaysia representative will accompany the educational field trip participants throughout the day, and will be available to answer any questions on conservation.

6:45am Depart for Raja Musa Forest Reserve in Kuala Selangor/ Tg Karang via NKVE

7:15am Breakfast at rest stop along the NKVE*

9:00am Briefing and tree planting at Raja Musa Forest Reserve

10:30am Depart for Bukit Melawati

11:00am Tram ride to Bukit Melawati (Fridays to Sundays)/Walk up to Bukit Melawati (Mondays to Thursdays). See silvered leaf monkeys and macaques.

Visitors to Bukit Melawati can enjoy a ride in the brightly coloured tram.

1:30pm ‘Kampung’ style lunch

2:30pm Powerpoint presentation on ‘Forests for Water, Water for Life’ by the WWF-Malaysia representative: An overview of WWF-Malaysia’s forest and freshwater conservation efforts.

3:45pm Tour of paddy field in Sekinchan, with regulator demonstration in the main canal

Paddy seedlings ready for planting. An onsite briefing on the importance of water for paddy plants.The paddy field regulator demonstration.

4:30pm Depart for Pasir Penambang in Kuala Selangor

5:00pm Enjoy cold coconut water

5:45pm Shopping at Pasir Penambang*

6:30pm Halal Chinese style dinner at Riverview Restaurant in Pasir Penambang

7:00pm Depart to Kampung Kuantan

7:30pm Presentation on fireflies and mangrove ecosystems and video

These students are excited to view fireflies.

8:30pm Board boats to view fireflies 10:15pm Depart for home

Costings

RM150 nett per headMinimum number of pax 25 RM150 nett per head includes:

1. WWF-Malaysia facilitator and presenter2. Service by WWF-Malaysia to secure entry permits from Rawang Forestry Department and pay permit fee3. Insurance for participants4. Entry fee and purchase of seedling for planting at Raja Musa Forest Reserve5. Hall and equipment rental for presentations6. Tram ride to Bukit Melawati7. Museum entry fee8. Fee for boat ride to view fireflies9. Malay style lunch and halal Chinese style dinner at restaurants10. Coconut water for participants

The price does not include:

1. Bus travel to and from field sites2. Breakfast at NKVE rest stop3. Personal shopping at Pasir Penambang
