Instructional material

Page 18: Field study 3

My Analysis- I think the teacher choose

interactive whiteboard as the materials/learning resources because she wants to show what are the causes and how the earthquake affects our life and environment by using multimedia in presenting the lesson.

Page 19: Field study 3

- The difficulties that the teacher experienced was two of the students transferring from one place to another. She managed it by calling their attention and ask some questions about the topic.

Page 20: Field study 3

• The learning materials were used effectively because most of the students are listening attentively during the discussion and they were motivated to learn about earthquake based on what they have seen in the presentation.

Page 21: Field study 3

My Reflections

If I were the teacher, yes, I would do similarly in teaching the same lesson to the same group of students because they have cooperation in interacting with the teacher effectively and as I’ve observed they were motivated to learn by using the new technology like the interactive whiteboard.

Tools of Trade (Teaching Aids Bank)

Page 23: Field study 3

My Analysis

3 benefits of doing a survey of available materials before making my own materials:

1. I can get some ideas on how I will make my own visual or learning materials more creative.

2. To get the appropriate materials that can be use in making my own learning resources.

3. To be more artistic in creating my learning aids.

Page 24: Field study 3

My Reflections1. The materials that I like making

the most is the power point presentation because I can make the topic more interactive if we include pictures, graphics, videos or sounds.

Page 25: Field study 3

2. In making power point presentation, the difficulties that I’ve encountered I wasn’t able to insert video.

3. For the preparation of teaching materials I can say that the teacher should consider if the material is relevant to the topic. If there is a need to integrate or use the new technology, then he/she should use it for the students to be more motivated in learning.

PAPER WORKS (Preparing Hand-outs)

Page 27: Field study 3

My Analysis

The good features of a handout:

1. Important details are present.2. Use graphic organizer or flow chart.3. All keywords are in bold fonts.4. Includes activities for the students.5. Easy to follow.

Page 28: Field study 3

My Reflections

- It is not easy to make handouts because we have to consider the child’s intellectual capacity or ability and interest of the students. To overcome this, I should get some ideas and examples of handouts on internet.

- In preparing handouts, the teacher should think of it as an interesting but simple type of handout. Just include the important details.

(Slide Presentation)

Page 30: Field study 3

My Analysis

Good features of a slide presentation:1. Less text per slide.2. Pictures/photos should be included.3. Insert videos4. Fonts are readable from a distance5. Not too long or short

My ReflectionsI found it easy in surfing the internet, but I have to be careful because I have to consider whether the information I found are reliable and accurate or not.

Page 40: Field study 3
Page 41: Field study 3

My ReflectionsIt is important that the school should have its curriculum to be followed by the teacher based on what level they are teaching. The curriculum helps the teacher as their guide in giving or facilitating the lesson everyday.

What’s the Curriculum Made of?

Page 43: Field study 3

My insights in Teaching and Learning

Plan The needs of the Learner The achievable goals and objectives

to meet the needs The motivation to carry out the

goals and objectives

Page 53: Field study 3

Implement Requires the Teacher to implement what has been planned based on the objectives. Implementation means to put into action the different activities in order to achieve the goals through the subject matter.

Page 54: Field study 3

Evaluate

Match up with the objectives with learning outcomes will be made

It will answer the question it the plans and implementations has been successfully achieved.

Page 55: Field study 3

My reflection • I like teaching because I love teaching

children specially those who shows interest in learning something. It fulfills me for having the courage to help the child’s learning stage. Teaching is sharing what knowledge you have to the young ones. Their achievements will also be ours, for we are part of their learning process.

Page 56: Field study 3

Episode 4

Let’s Craft the Curriculum

Page 57: Field study 3

My reflection and insights

Subject-Centered Design Model• Focuses on the content of the curriculum.• Provides the learners a lot of information from different or

recommended textbooks.

Learner-Centered Design Model• The learner is the center of educative process. It focuses on

their needs and the learnings that they should acquire from the teacher.

• Experiences of the students are applied in learning.

Page 58: Field study 3

Problem-Centered Design Model •Use real-life situations to relate the

lessons for better understanding of the students.

What do I like best in these curriculum designs?• It is helpful in the students’ education or

learning process.

Page 59: Field study 3

My Portfolio Learner-Centered Design Model

Explicit skill instruction

Encourages collaboration

Learner-Centered Design Model

Learning by doingEncourages students to reflect on what and

how they learn.

Page 60: Field study 3

Episode 5

What’s the Basic of the Curriculum?

Page 61: Field study 3

There is a need to articulate the lessons from grade school to high school because learning is taught from simple to complex. If the lessons are taught clearly and effectively the students will have a better retention from it. Their knowledge from grade school to high school will increase gradually.

My Analysis

Page 62: Field study 3

As a teacher, I need to understand fully well the dimensions of the curriculum design because it will help me a lot on how to implement the lessons and what strategy or teaching techniques should I going to use for the students to understand and acquire knowledge better.

My Reflections

Page 63: Field study 3

Episode 6

Tell Me Your Features

Page 64: Field study 3

As a future teacher, I need to know and understand the six features of the curriculum because it is the teacher who brings life to the curriculum. A teacher interprets, plans, and executes the curriculum on a day-to-day basis. Lesson plans are drawn up for the purpose. The features of the curriculum need to be incorporated and transmitted through the subject-matter so as to attain the main goal of education.

My Analysis

The Wh- of the Curriculum

Page 66: Field study 3

Episode 8

What’s New in the curriculum?

Page 67: Field study 3

We need to innovate to change for the better not for worst and to come up with something new for the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning.

My Conclusions
