ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I want to thank all my friends and my classmates who were always there for assistance and for the brilliant ideas they shared to make this portfolio. They were always giving me pieces of advices which can improve my skills in creating such work.
Above all, to our Almighty God, for giving me strength, good health and knowledge in making this portfolio.
DEDICATION
This portfolio is dedicated to my classmates and my friends who contributed lot of ideas for this portfolio.
This is also for my parents: Mr. Catchero S. Paran and Mrs. Eva D. Paran, and my brothers and sister Dianne, Deo, Darel, and Dominic. They inspire me and give me courage in accomplishing this portfolio.
STATEMENT OF THE PURPOSE
After making the observations on every designated room, there are many experiences you acquire and there things you learn from it. As you observe the teaching-learning process occurring inside the classroom, you notice that there are methods and strategies used to handle teaching-learning process. After this, you now reflect on your present observations and give insights for you to check yourself whether you learned something from it or not.
This will serve as my time machine which will let me go through the times I spent with the different kinds of learners and this will show how much I learned upon observing them.
o This portfolio serves as the
compilation of all the observed
activities in the school in form of
photo documents.
o It also includes the compilation of
my reflections and my insights.
o I know that through this portfolio, I
will let myself trained with the
various observations included as a
requirement.

MEANINGFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCES
EPISODE 01
LESSON PRINTED ON MANILA PAPERS
This is the commonly
used type of instructional
material. Every lesson is printed on the manila
paper instead of
writing it on the board.
MULTIMEDIA
These are one of the compact discs used for viewing purposes in History classes. They are used inside the Audio Visual room of Laboratory School.
MODELS
This are coins used during discussions on the History subjects. These are useful for the students to have actual experience on the subject.
POSTERS
These are one of the available teaching
aids in the school.
These are used in
presenting topics in the
form of pictorial
representations.
BOARD DISPLAYS
Bulletin Board Display(Nutrition Month)
This is the Bulletin Board Display of the Laboratory School as celebration for the Nutrition Month.
BOOKS
This are some of the available
books in the library. These are used by teachers as source of
information for their subject matters in teaching.
There are many ways to deliver instruction from the teacher or facilitator to the students. This includes the
use of effective instructional materials which can enhance the delivery as well as learning itself. Teachers should always remember the importance of variance of instructional materials to increase motivation among learners to go with the lesson. These materials should serve as a contributory factor for meaningful learning
experience rather than just a variance. In using assessment tools, teachers should see to it
that the assessment tools used are meant to measure what is intended to be measured. It should be planned,
structured, and systematized in accordance with the objectives of the lesson.
REFLECTION
Lastly, teaching methods and strategies should be also well-
carved for meaningful teaching-learning process. It is useful to
have a best classroom interaction covering the delivery of
instruction. The use of encouraging voice, pleasant personality, and good social interaction are just only
part of the different strategy to energize room wherein your
students will surely deal with you confidently.
EPISODE 02ENRICHING THE
TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS
REFLECTION
1. DISCIPLINARY PROBLEMS
“ The problem on discipline is a major concern of all teachers…”
Disciplinary problems are commonly observed inside the
classroom. It is one of the major problem which teachers try to
eliminate .
Example is noisiness wherein you can hardly deal with the
students. It sometimes consume the patience of a
teacher but with an effective strategy in talking to them
you can surely convince them to go with you without making
some trouble at all.
You, as a classroom manager, should handle
the minor problems effectively for you not to
go beyond the major ones. You can use
motivating activities to deviate their bad feeling about subjects or you.
In classroom management, there are two things we should
consider: 1) physical climate condition which
deals with the classroom’s non-threatening condition and
2) 2) psycho-social climate condition which deals with the
teacher-student good relationship.
2. ROUTINARY ACTIVITIESThis must be handled carefully to
eliminate wasting of time on useless matters. You should use
every second for learning activity among students. An example of this are checking of attendance,
collecting of papers, cleaning, etc. Routinary activities can be polished
by doing it consistently to avoid confusion.
3. PHYSICAL FEATURES OF THE CLASSROOM
As a classroom manager, you should make sure that the room
you’re using is not a life-threatening one. Physically good, every thing inside the classroom should be well-arranged and safe
from any injuring properties. Ventilation, lighting, arrangement
of furniture and general housekeeping should be well-managed to create a learner-
loving atmosphere.
4. MOOD-SETTINGMotivating the students will
arouse their interest to learn. With this readiness, you will make
them learn a lot of things and experience meaningful activities which will enrich their skills and knowledge. Its like offering them
appetizers to eat nutritious foods.
You can motivate your students by giving them
exciting activities that will open their exploring minds. Ex: showing them a short video clip about atoms.
The importance of motivation should be marked in every teacher’s hearts for them t teach effectively as well as
efficiently.
5. TECHNIQUES IN ASKING QUESTIONS
Perhaps, we all know that a question must be first structured to get reliable responses. I mean, you can’t just ask question because you
want to without relationship between the question and its
purpose.Questioning needs a purpose. What is its intention? To measure what?
A TEACHER SHOULD HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE IN THE ART OF
QUESTIONING TO HAVE A GOOD INTERACTION AMONG THE
STUDENTS. THEIR RESPONSES HOLDS A LOT OF EXPRESSIONS THAT MUST BE TREATED WELL
WHEN ITS SOMETHING RIGHT OR WRONG.
DON’T JUST ASK “WHAT IS THIS?” BY HAVING NO INTENTION
IN ASKING THAT QUESTION.
Asking questions is a balancing act – it can be
applied in ways that are both helpful and potentially
hurtful to the student. This is where questioning becomes
an “art.” The questioner must pay attention to the person’s body language,
which reveals many things that words do not.
EPISODE 3“ASSISSTING A TEACHER”
A Lab. School teacher helping a student. This is
one of the ways in creating a strong bond between teachers and students.
Teachers should
maintain the balance of
every dimension of the room. As a classroom manager, he
should enhance the interaction among the
students and of course the
teacher-student
relationship.
REFLECTIONO“Besides classroom management,
there are assisting activities that teachers should have to perform.
These include developing curriculum materials, giving instructions to small groups,
supervising projects providing remedial works and others.
Through these activities, they become more aware of the school program and the functioning of
the curriculum in the fullest sense.”
In the assessment tools that will be used to
evaluate the learning experiences of the
students, we should ensure the appropriateness of
these tools and make sure that they are in accordance
with the learning objectives.
O As future teachers, we should find ways on how to let ourselves know
the best methods and tools that must be used for effective teaching.
Instructional materials should be well-planned for excellent delivery of instruction from us to the learners.
O Planning is the best thing to do in polishing the process of teaching and enhancement of learning process. We
should not think only on the efficiency of our style, methods and
strategies of teaching but the effectiveness of the chosen method
should be also considered.
GENERAL REFLECTIO
N
O After observing the different classroom settings and other observations, we should be able to learn something.
O As stated in the principles of teaching, learning is not just recalling but also
includes application, analysis, synthesis, judging, and creating. In relation to these observations, we
should not only write these observations but we should also be able to apply the concepts of good teaching-
learning process. It is the purpose of Field Study to expose us to the actual
classroom settings and make reflections from the experiences we acquired for
applications.
O These observations will be of great help when we will be holding a class in the future. It would be
ensured that the learning experiences that will be acquired by our future
students will be meaningful because of our effectiveness and
efficiency.
