Dear Prospective Field Hockey Player,

Springbrook field hockey is BACK and EVEN BETTER!! We just completed

one of our most amazing seasons this past year. We want to invite you to have the opportunity to

join this remarkable group of girls and be the foundation of many more years of success to come.

Believe it or not, Field Hockey season is less than 3 months away!

In the next few months, you will need to get your body and mind ready by joining the spring

and summer leagues, clinics, and put in the effort to train in the offseason. Preseason conditioning

is key to our success. You will learn game sense while improving your skills and fitness levels. Each

player has an important role on the team and the more practice you have, the more of an impact

you will have on the team’s success.

Inside this packet you will see sections that are important to keep in mind. You will find the

name of your coaches and how to contact them as well as staying updated with the latest news and

team information on Twitter @Springbrookfh15. This packet also will inform you on the list

of items you should have with you for the tryouts, team expectations, Concussion test dates prior

to practice, criteria to becoming a field hockey player, the calendar for the month of August 2017,

Important Date and Notes, as well as the Physical form, Student/Parent Contract,

Concussion/Sudden Cardiac Arrest forms and Medical Card. Please look and fill each form

We are excited to have you as part of the Springbrook Field Hockey family. All completed

forms will be collected on Tuesday, August 8th at the school between the hours of 5 and 6

pm in the main lobby of Springbrook High School. You may not practice until all forms have

been completed.

As a Springbrook Field Hockey Player, you are expected to:

1) Make a commitment to our program.

2) Give 100% effort at all times and a great attitude at all times.

3) Present yourself, the field hockey program, and your Springbrook HS in a positive

light.

4) Attend all classes and give a worthy effort in your academic classes.

5) Abide by all rules of MCPS and Springbrook High School.

6) Follow the team rules, including:

Punctuality is very important

Mouth guards, eye guards and shin guards are required at all games and

practices!!!

Attend all team meetings, practices, and games

Important Dates and Notes: April 22, 2017: Mulch Sale 8-2pm

May 1st to June: HOCO FH Spring League begins games are Monday and Wednesday

June 9th: Alumni Game 7-9pm @ White Oak Field #4 – Great chance to meet alumni and make new friends.

June 21st -July 26th: Paint Branch Summer League (Mondays and Wednesday evenings) MUST MAKE AN EFFORT TO PLAY

August 8th: Fall Sports Forms Hand in 5-6 pm in school lobby (Tuesday)

August 14 and beyond: All practices will be held at Colesville Park on Hobbs Drive, Silver Spring (right before the ICC)

August 18th: (Friday) first scrimmage!!!! Home vs B-CC 4pm V/ 5:30 JV

August 22 – Away vs Holy Cross 4pm Varsity/ 5:30 JV

August 24 – Away vs St. John’s 4pm Varsity/ 5:30 JV
