Born: October 1898, 77 Gospel End Street, Sedgley. Parents: Joseph & Emily Fiddler. Siblings: Eldest of 7 children. Four survived in 1911: Cyril Wilfred: Nellie Beatrice & Evelyn Murial. Occupation: 1911 Scholar: Living at 69 Kings Road Sedgley. Attended Queen Victoria School, Sedgley. 1914: Steel Worker - Stewarts & Lloyds Steel Works, Bilston. Buried: Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Grave Reference: II.C.129 Commemorated Locally: War Memorial All Saints’ Church, Sedgley. Stephen enlisted 19 th December 1914 giving his age as 19 years 72 days, when he was, in fact, only 16. He was sent to France on 4 th August 1915 and was wounded in action on 12 th February 1916. He died on 13 th February from a gunshot wound to the head, aged 17.
