Page 4: Fiction or Nonfiction?

We read many, many different books.

Page 5: Fiction or Nonfiction?

All of the books we read can be sorted into

two groups.

Page 7: Fiction or Nonfiction?

What is the difference

between fiction and nonfiction

books

Page 8: Fiction or Nonfiction?

Fiction books are books that tell a story.

Page 9: Fiction or Nonfiction?

Fiction books tell made-up, make-believe stories that

are not real.

Page 10: Fiction or Nonfiction?

Fiction books are written to entertain.

Page 11: Fiction or Nonfiction?

The opposite of fiction books are nonfiction

books.

Page 12: Fiction or Nonfiction?

They give you facts about something,

leaves

roots

Page 13: Fiction or Nonfiction?

and are written to explain and give you information.

Page 14: Fiction or Nonfiction?

If you are reading a

story about making

friends with a unicorn,

Page 15: Fiction or Nonfiction?

it is a made-up, make-believe story because

there is no such animal.

It is fiction!

It is entertaining you.

Page 16: Fiction or Nonfiction?

it is fiction because

you know that cows

can’t really

jump over the

moon!

If you are

reading about a cow that jumped over the moon,

Page 17: Fiction or Nonfiction?

it is nonfiction because

it is explaining the facts

of milking a cow. It is giving you

information.

If you are

reading about how a farmer milks a

cow,

Page 18: Fiction or Nonfiction?

it is nonfiction because

it is giving you informati

on.

If you are reading

about how and why a

bee gathers nectar from

a flower,

Page 19: Fiction or Nonfiction?

These are the differences between fiction and nonfiction books:
