Fort Hays State University supports 16 athletic programs, including Men’s Basketball. Out of the nearly 5,000 on-campus students, around 400 are student-athletes at FHSU.

The Fort Hays State Men’s Basketball program holds several national basketball titles, including national back-to-back championships in 1984 and 1985, and a remarkable 34-0 campaign in 1996.

Doing everything it can to put successful teams on the playing field, Fort Hays State takes their athletic programs very seriously. The athletic department strives to provide high-level competition within one of the nation’s most elite Division II conferences, the MIAA.

The athletically-committed universities of the MIAA have produced 16 national team championships and over 150 individual national champions at the NCAA Division II level. This commitment only drives members of the conference to compete at a higher level.

FHSU athletes are also great learners. Close to 60% of student-athletes maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, with over 140 athletes with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Men’s Basketball Funding Needs

The following priorities are listed in order of importance.

General Athletic ScholarshipsStudent-Athletes need scholarships as much as other students. Balancing practice, classes, school work, and games can prove to be challenging; add a job to the equation and the result can be overwhelming. Athletic scholarships not only allow student-athletes to focus on performing at their highest level both academically and athletically, but also attract talented players who in turn only make the FHSU Tigers better. With over a dozen programs to support, help from alumni and friends is paramount to the success of FHSU Athletics.
