Funds may be applied toward the purchase of equipment and software used for programming directed toward both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Equipment and software purchased support teaching and research in the areas of Athletic Training, Nutrition, Teacher Education, Sports Management, Wellness and Fitness.

FHSU FoUndation 2014

In December of 2013, your Fort Hays State University Foundation announced the Power of One scholarship campaign, with a goal of raising $8 million by December 31, 2014.

Be the Power of One and donate today by visiting https://secure.fhsu.edu/foundation and typing “The Power of One” as your area of designation.

future of what is yet to come looks even more exciting.

Biomechanics Analysis Hardware and SoftwareThe current system used in Biomechanics motion analysis was purchased in 2009 and is in dire need of an update. The department is interested in purchasing a Force Platform system with Analog Signal Acquisition. This addition would dramatically increase the ability to conduct any type of motion analysis and would allow for synchronization of data collection and updating of the current system. Updating the system would provide students with learning experiences on the most current software and hardware available.

Athletic Training/Emergency Medical Services EducationLighted medical instruments, otoscope, and ophthalmoscope sets would be utilized to enhance athletic training students’ general medical clinical learning, as a teaching tool for exercise science and general medical clinical learning. This equipment would also be used in the healthcare of Fort Hays State University collegiate athletes through the athletic training room in the Department of Athletics. The department is also looking to purchase a specific EKG, which can be used in EMT Training and other departmental courses. This EKG would also increase our ability to assist other medical programs on campus with new/updated equipment.

Intramural Programming EquipmentProgramming activities of the Intramural Department serve all students, as well as faculty and staff at FHSU. These funds would be used to purchase equipment updates for over 220 intramural activities, training aids for sports officials, activity league scheduling software, and equipment for adapted physical education instruction.

Active Aging/Instrumentation EquipmentThis equipment facilitates integrated testing of muscular capacities and functional performance in aging individuals. It is portable and simple to use. Students in classes will be exposed to new assessment and evaluation procedures, allowing them to provide performance reviews and assistance for aging individuals in our exercise service programs. Specific equipment list: Myotest Pro: Digital Muscular Capacity Assessment Tools; SiliconCoach Pro 7 Medical/ Clinical Motion Analysis Software; and FT80 Fitness Performance Test Wearable Computer.
