    Fundamental warnings for safety

    Danger! The appliance operates with electricity and may therefore cause electricshock. Respect the following safety warnings:

    Never touch the appliance with wet hands.

    Never touch the plug with wet hands.

    Make sure that the socket can be freely accessed, in order to unplug the coffeemachine when necessary.

    If you want to unplug the coffee machine, unplug by directly pulling the plug. Neverpull the power cable as you could damage it.

    To disconnect the appliance completely, unplug it from the mains power supply.

    If the appliance is faulty, do not attempt to repair it. Turn the appliance off, unplug itfrom the mains supply and contact Technical support.

    If the plug or power cable become damaged, they should only be replaced byTechnical support to prevent any risks.

    Danger! Keep all packaging (plastic bags, polystyrene foam) out of the reach ofchildren.

    Danger! Do not allow the appliance to be used by persons (including children)with psychological, physical or sensory impairments or with inadequate experienceor knowledge, unless closely supervised or instructed by someone responsible fortheir safety. Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with theappliance.

    WARNING: Risk of burns! This appliance produces hot water and steam may becreated while it is operation. Avoid contact with splashes of hot water or steam. Avoidtouching hot surfaces when the appliance is in use. Use the knobs and handles.

    Do not hold on to the coffee machine when it has been taken out of the unit. Donot rest objects containing liquids, in ammable or corrosive materials on top of theappliance. Use the holder provided to hold the accessories required in preparing thecoffee (the measure, for example).

    Do not rest unstable objects or large objects that could block the movement on theappliance.

    Never prepare coffee, hot water or steam when the appliance is not assembledin the unit. Make sure that the appliance is turned off before removing it. Failure toobserve this warning may damage the appliance!

    Some buttons on the panel have a dual function. The functions are indicated withinbrackets in the description.

    C1. Display: helps the user in using the appliance.

    C2. Menu light.

    3.- Description of operation

    3.1.- General description

    3.1.1.- Using the appliance for the rst time

    Important! The rst time the appliance is turned on and each time it isplugged in, when the main ON/OFF switch (A) is pressed, the appliance willperform an AUTO-DIAGNOSIS cycle and then turn off. To turn it on again, press the

    button (C7) on the control panel.

    Coffee has been used in the factory to test the appliance, therefore it is completelynormal to nd traces of coffee in the coffee grinder. You are assured that this coffeemachine is new.

    You should customise the appliance to your water hardness as soon as possible byfollowing the instructions described in the "Setting the water hardness" chapter.

    1. Connect the appliance to the mains supply. Select a language:

    2. To programme the English language, wait until you see the display message:"PRESS OK TO INSTALL ENGLISH". While this message appears, hold the OK buttonfor 3 seconds at least ( g. 1) until the message "ENGLISH INSTALLED" appears inthe display. After this, the coffee machine will display the settings message in English.If you select the wrong language, follow the instructions contained in the "Changingthe language" chapter to select the right one.

    Continue by following the instructions provided by the appliance:

    3. After 5 seconds, the appliance will display "FILL TANK": In order to ll the watertank, remove it ( g. 2), rinse it and ll it with fresh water without exceeding the MAX.line. Replace the tank and push it in as far as it will go.

    4. Place a cup under the hot water spout ( g. 3). (If the spout is not tted, the appliancewill display "INSERT WATER SPOUT". Assemble it by following the instructions ing. 4 and make sure to align the arrows on the spout with those on the appliancecontrol panel). The appliance now displays: "PRESS OK". Press the OK button( g. 1) and after a few seconds, a little water will emerge from the spout. (Dispensingstops automatically).

    5. The appliance now displays: "TURNING OFF... PLEASE WAIT" and then turnsoff.

    6. Remove the appliance by pulling it out using the handles ( g. 5), take off the lidand ll the container with coffee beans. Next, close the lid and push the applianceback into the unit.

    Warning: To prevent malfunction, do not add ground coffee, freeze-dried coffee,caramelised beans or other substances that could damage the appliance to the coffee

    bean container.The coffee machine is now ready for normal use.

    Important! When using the coffee machine for the rst time, you need to make4/5 coffees and 4/5 cappuccinos before getting satisfactory results.

    3.1.2.- Turning on and heating up

    Each time the appliance is turned on, it performs an automatic preheat and rise cyclethat cannot be interrupted. The appliance will only be ready for use after this cycle.

    Risk of burns! During the rinse cycle, a little hot water will emerge from thecoffee spout nozzles. Avoid contact with the splashes of water.

    To turn on the appliance, press the button ( g. 6). The appliance will display themessage HEATING... PLEASE WAIT.

    When the appliance has heated up, another message will appear: RINSE. This way,in addition to heating the boiler, the appliance will dispense hot water through all theinner circuits to heat them.

    The appliance has heated up when it displays the message "READY FOR NORMALSTRENGTH USE".

    3.1.3.- Preparing coffee (using coffee beans)

    1. The coffee machine has been preset to prepare normal strength coffee. Coffee canbe prepared as extra weak, weak, strong or extra strong. To select the strength, pressthe button ( g. 7). The coffee strength selected will appear in the display.

    2. Place a cup under the nozzles if you want to prepare 1 coffee ( g. 8) or 2 cups for2 coffees ( g. 9). For a better crema, bring the nozzle as close as possible to the cupsby lowering it ( g. 10).

    3. Press the button if you want a short coffee ( g. 11) or the button to preparea normal coffee or the button for a long coffee. If you want to prepare 2 coffees,press the button twice (within 2 seconds). If you want to change the quantity of coffeeautomatically dispensed in the cup, follow the steps described in the next chapter.(Now the coffee machine grinds the beans and dispenses the coffee into the cup).Once the predetermined amount of coffee has been dispensed, the coffee machineautomatically stops and discharges the spent ground coffee in the coffee grounds

    container).4. After a few seconds, the coffee machine displays the message READY FORUSE and another coffee can be made.

    5. To turn the appliance off, press the button. (Before turning off, the coffeemachine will be automatically rinsed; a little hot water will energe from the nozzlesthat will be collected in the drip tray. Take care to not scald yourself).

    NOTE 1: If the coffee emerges a drop at a time or not at all, turn the grinding adjustmentknob ( g. 12) one position clockwise (see the "Adjusting the coffee grinder" chapter).

    Continue to turn it one position at a time until the coffee output is satisfactory.

    NOTE 2: If the coffee is dispensed too fast or the crema is not satisfactory, turn thegrinding adjustment knob one position anti-clockwise ( g. 12) (see the "Adjusting thecoffee grinder" chapter).

    Make sure that you do not turn the adjustment knob excessively when you want tomake 2 cups of coffee as the coffee will be dispensed in drops.

    NOTE 3: Tips for hotter coffee:

    When you turn the coffee machine on, if you want to make a short cup of coffee(less than 60 cc), use the hot water from the rinse to heat the cups. Otherwise, if morethan 2/3 minutes have passed since the last coffee made, before making another one,you should heat the infuser by pressing the button ( g. 13). Allow the water to

    drain off into the drip tray or ll (and then empty) the coffee cup with this water to heatit.

    Unless preheated, do not use excessively thick cups as they absorb too muchheat.

    Use cups that have been heated by rinsing them with hot water.

    NOTE 4: While the coffee machine is making the coffee, the output can be interruptedat any time by pressing the previously selected button, or or .

    NOTE 5: As soon as coffee dispensing stops, to increase the amount of coffee in the

    cup, hold the previously selected button, or or buttons, until reachingthe desired amount (this operation must be done within 3 seconds after dispensing).

    NOTE 6: When the appliance displays "FILL TANK", ll the water tank or otherwiseno coffee emerge. (Normally, when this message appears, there is still a little waterin the tank).

    NOTE 7: After making 14 single (or 7 double) coffees, the appliance displays themessage: "EMPTY GROUNDS CONTAINER", indicating that the coffee groundscontainer is full and must be emptied and cleaned.

    Until the grounds container has been cleaned, the appliance will continue to displaythe message and will not make any more coffees.

    To clean it, open the service door located on the front of themachine by pulling the handle ( g. 14), then remove thedrip tray ( g. 15), empty and clean the container.

    When cleaning, remove the drip tray completely to prevent it from falling when thegrounds container is removed. Empty the coffee grounds container and clean itthoroughly, making sure to remove all residue on the bottom.

    Warning: When you remove the drip tray, you MUST empty the grounds containereven if it is not full. If this is not done, when you next make coffee, the coffee groundscontainer may ll up more than expected and clog the coffee machine.

    NOTE 8: Never remove the water tank while the appliance is making coffee.

    If it is removed, the appliance will be unable to make coffee and it will display: "GROUNDTOO FINE ADJUST GRINDER, INSERT WATER SPOUT AND PRESS OK".

    To use the appliance again, insert the hot water spout ( g. 4) if not already in position,then press OK and dispense water from the spout for a few seconds.

    3.1.4.- Changing the quantity of coffee in the cup

    The coffee machine has been preset to automatically dispense the following quantitiesof coffee:

    -short coffee (40 ml), by pressing the button.

    -normal coffee (80 ml), by pressing the button.

    -long coffee (125 ml), by pressing the button.

    To change these quantities, proceed as follows:

    - Press the (or or ) button that you want to change for at least 5 secondsand then release it until the appliance displays PROGRAM QUANTITY and it startsto dispense the coffee.

    - When the coffee in the cup reaches the desired level, press the same button againto memorise the new amount.

    The appliance is now re-programmed with the new settings and displays "READYFOR USE".

    3.1.5.- Adjusting the coffee grinder

    The coffee should not require adjustment initially as it has been preset to preparecoffee correctly. However, if after making the rst few coffees, dispensing is either toofast or too slow (drops), this can be corrected by adjusting the grinding adjustmentknob ( g. 12).

    Turn the knob one position clockwise (one number) for quicker coffee output (not indrops).

    Turn the knob one position anti-clockwise for slower coffee output and a bettercrema.

    Adjustment will only be evident after at least 2 cups of coffee have been made.The grinding adjustment knob must only be turned when the coffee grinder is inoperation.

    For slower output and a better crema, turn the knob anti-clockwise oneposition (= ner ground coffee). For quicker output (not in drops), turnthe knob clockwise one position (= coarser ground coffee).

    (Coffee has been used in the factory to test the appliance, thereforeit is completely normal to nd traces of coffee in the grinder. You areassured that this coffee machine is new).

    3.1.3.- Preparing espresso coffee with ground coffee (instead of coffee beans)

    Press the button ( g. 16) to select the ground coffee function (this disables thecoffee grinder function). The appliance now displays "READY FOR GROUND USE".

    Remove the appliance by pulling it outwards using the handles.

    Lift the central lid, place one measure of ground coffee in the funnel ( g. 17). Pushthe appliance back in and then proceed as described in the "Preparing coffee (usingcoffee beans)". Warning: Only 1 coffee can be made at at time by pressing the

    or or button.

    After using the machine with ground coffee, to return to using beans, you mustdeactivate the ground coffee function by pressing the button again to enable thecoffee grinder.

    NOTE 1: Never add ground coffee when the coffee machine is turned off as it couldspread through the inside of the appliance.

    NOTE 2: Never add more than one level measure as either the machine will not makethe coffee and the ground coffee will be dispersed inside the appliance, dirting it or thecoffee will be dispensed a drop at a time.

    NOTE 3: Use the measure provided to add the correct quantity of coffee.

    Make sure that the intake tube is correctly assembled in the rubber washer ( g. 20)and then replace the milk container lid.

    Position the milk frother pointer (B1) between CAPPUCCINO and CAFFELATTE,which is printed on the milk container lid. The quality of the froth can be adjustedby moving the pointer towards CAFFELATTE for a denser froth. Move it towardsCAPPUCCINO for a looser froth.

    Remove the hot water spout ( g. 21) and attach the milk container to the nozzle,making sure to align the arrows on the container lid with that on the appliance controlpanel ( g. 22).

    Position the milk dispensing tubefollowing the indications shownin g. 23 and place a suf cientlysized cup under the coffee and milkspouts.

    Press the button ( g. 24).The appliance now displays:"CAPPUCCINO..." and after afew seconds, the frothed milk isdispensed from the milk spout to the

    cup below. (Milk dispensing stops automatically).

    The coffee machine then grinds the beans, dispenses the coffee and the messageREADY FOR USE appears.

    The cappuccino is ready. Sweeten to taste and if you like, sprinkle the froth withcocoa powder.

    NOTE 1: While making the cappuccino, the ow of frothed milk or coffee can beinterrupted by pressing the button.

    NOTE 2: If the milk in the container nishes while dispensing frothed milk, remove itand add more milk. Replace the container and press the button to request acappuccino again.

    NOTE 3: To ensure that the milk frother is completely clean and hygenic, clean out theinner circuits of the milk container lid after making cappuccinos.

    Place a container under the milk spout.

    Press the CLEAN button on the lid and hold down for at least 3 seconds ( g. 25).The appliance displays "CLEANING IN PROGRESS". After cleaning, remove the milkcontainer and keep it in the refrigerator. Milk should not be left out of the refrigeratorfor more than 15 minutes.

    3.1.12.- Cleaning and maintenance

    Before cleaning the coffee machine, it should be left to cool and unplugged fromthe mains supply. Never immerse the coffee machine in water. It is an electricalappliance.

    Never use abrasive solvents or detergents to clean the appliance. A soft damp cloth issuf cient. NEVER wash any of the coffee-machine components in the dishwasher.

    Cleaning the coffee machine

    Clean the coffee grounds container (described in the Preparing coffee using coffebeans chapter) each time it is emptied. The water tank should also be cleanedfrequently. The drip tray contains an indicator (in red) of the water level in it.

    When this indicator can be seen (a few millimetres below the drip tray), the tray shouldbe emptied and cleaned.

    Check that the holes in the coffee spout are not blocked. Unblock them by scrapingthe accumulated dry coffee with a needle ( g. 26).

    Clean the nozzle regularly with a sponge as shown in g. 27.

    Cleaning the infuser

    The infuser should be cleaned regularly to prevent the build-up of coffee encrustations(that could cause malfunction). To clean it, proceed as follows:

    Turn off the coffee machine by pressing the button ( g. 6) (do not unplug) andwait until the display goes off.

    Open the service door ( g. 14).

    Remove the drip tray and the grounds container ( g. 15) and wash them.

    Press the two red release buttons on the side of infuser and in the centre ( g. 28)and pull the infuser outwards.

    WARNING: THE INFUSER SHOULD ONLY BE REMOVED WHEN THE COFFEEMACHINE IS TURNED OFF. ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE INFUSER WHILETHE APPLIANCE IS STILL ON COULD SERIOUSLY DAMAGE IT.

    Wash the infuser under running water without using any detergents. Never washthe infuser in the dishwasher.

    Clean the inside of the coffee machine thoroughly. Remove encrusted coffee fromthe walls of the machine by scrapping with a wooden or plastic fork ( g. 29) and thensuck all grounds with a vacuum cleaner ( g. 30).

    Reassemble the infuser by placing it ontoits supports and pin, and then push the PUSHsymbol fully in until it clicks into place.

    Check that the red buttons have popped out,otherwise the door cannot be closed.

    Replace the drip tray with the groundscontainer.

    Close the service door.

    NOTE 1: If the infuser is not tted correctly until it clicks into place and the buttons popout correctly, the service door cannot be closed.

    NOTE 2: If the infuser is dif cult to insert, place it in the correct position by pressingsimultaneously on the top and bottom as shown in the gure.

    NOTE 3: If it is still dif cult to insert, do not assemble it on the machine.Close the service door, unplug the appliance and then plug in again.Wait until the display goes off after completing the self-diagnosis,open the service door and t the infuser again.

    Cleaning the milk container

    Warning! Always clean the inner circuits of the milk container (B)after preparing the milk. If there is milk left in the container, donot leave it out of the refrigerator for long. Clean the containereach time you heat milk by following the indications in Note 3 inthe "Preparing cappuccinos" chapter.

    1. Turn the milk container lid clockwise to remove it.

    2. Remove the milk spout and intake tube.

    3. Remove the pointer by pulling it outwards.

    4. Carefully wash all components with hot water and a gentledetergent. Take special care in ensuring that there is no milktraces left inside the holes and the groove located at the ne endof the pointer.

    3.1.13.- Changing and setting menu parameters

    After pressing the button and waiting for the machine to be ready for use, you canuse the internal menu to change the following parameters or functions:

    Clock

    Auto-start time

    Descaling process

    Coffee temperature

    Length of time the appliance remains turned on

    Water hardness

    Default values

    Washing process

    Setting the clock

    To set the clock, proceed as follows:

    Press the MENU button (the light over the button comes on) and press the buttonrepeatedly until the appliance displays CLOCK...00:00.

    Press the button to program the clock time. (If you hold the button down, thetime changes quickly).

    Press OK to con rm the value.

    Press the MENU button to exit the settings mode or to change other parameters.

    Important! The display is turned off when the appliance is in stand-by. Pressany button to display the clock.

    Setting the auto-start time

    This function programmes the time at which the machine will turn on automatically tobe ready for use.

    Make sure that the clock is set, as indicated in the instructions in the previouschapter.

    Press the MENU button (the light over the button comes on) and press the buttonrepeatedly until the appliance displays START...00:00.

    Press the button to program the auto-start time. (If you hold the button down,the time changes quickly).

    Press OK to con rm the value.

    Press the button once and the appliance displays "AUTO-START NO". Press the button to change the function (the appliance displays AUTO-START YES.

    Press OK to activate the auto-start function.

    NOTE: When the coffee machine is turned off and the auto-start time has been set,the symbol will appear beside the time on the unlit display.

    Press the MENU button to exit the settings mode or to change otherparameters.

    Descaling

    Over time, constant heating up of the water used to make coffee leads to limescalebuilding up in the inner circuits of the appliance. When the appliance displays"DESCALE", the machine must be descaled. Proceed as follows:

    Make sure that the appliance is ready for use.

    Press the MENU button (the light over the button comes on) and press the buttonrepeatedly until the appliance displays DESCALE NO.

    Press the button and the appliance will display DESCALE YES.

    Press OK to activate the descaling programme.

    Empty the water tank, pour in the contents of the descaling kit into the tank, respectingthe instructions given on the packaging and add enough water to bring the level up tothe MAX indication in the water tank. For subsequent operations, use the same brandand type of descaler as that supplied with the equipment (available from technicalsupport centres authorised by the manufacturer), or a descaler recommended by thesupport centre. Always follow the instructions on the packaging.

    Attach the hot water spout to the nozzle.

    Place a container that can hold at least 1.5 litres under the hot water spout ( g. 3).

    Press the OK button, the descaling solution is dispensed through the hot water spoutand lls the container below. The appliance displays "DESCALING IN PROGRESS".

    The descaling programme automatically runs a series of dispensing spurs andpauses to remove the limescale encrustations inside the machine.

    After 30 minutes, the appliance displays RINSING FILL TANK.

    The appliance must now be rinsed to remove any remaining descaling solution insidethe machine. Proceed as follows:

    Empty the water tank, rinse and ll it with clean water.

    Replace the tank.

    Empty the container full of liquid and place it under the hot water spout again.

    Press the OK button. The hot water is dispensed from the spout and lls the containerlocated below and the appliance will display "RINSING".

    When the machine has emptied the water tank, it will display RINSING COMPLETE... PRESS OK.

    Press the OK button and ll the water tank with clean water once again.

    The descaling programme is now complete and the machine is ready to makecoffees once again.

    NOTE: If the descaling process is interrupted before being fully completed, themachine will still show the descaling message. The process must be restarted fromthe beginning. Empty the water tank, rinse and ll it with clean water and dispense acup of water.

    IMPORTANT: FAILURE TO DESCALE THE APPLIANCE REGULARLYRENDERS THE WARRANTEE INVALID.

    Changing the coffee temperature

    To change the coffee temperature, proceed as follows:

    Press the MENU button (the light over the button comes on) and press the buttonrepeatedly until the appliance displays TEMPERATURE HIGH.

    Press the button until the chosen coffee temperature appears

    Press OK to con rm the chosen temperature value.

    Press the MENU button to exit the settings mode or to change other parameters.

    Changing the length of time the appliance remains turned on

    The coffee machine has been preset to automatically turn off after one hour sinceits last use. If you want the machine to remain on for more hours (max. 3 hours),proceed as follows:

    Press the MENU button (the light over the button comes on) and press the buttonrepeatedly until the appliance displays OFF AFTER 1 HOUR.

    Press the button to change the number of hours during which the appliance willremain turned on.

    Press OK to con rm the value.

    3.1.14.- Changing the language

    To change the language, press the button for at least seconds until a multi-language installation message is displayed. Next select the language, following theinstructions in the "Using the appliance for the rst time" section.

    3.2.- Troubleshooting

    3.2.1.- Display messages

    INSERT WATER SPOUT The water spout isnot fitted or is correctlyinserted.

    The coffee groundscontainer (A4) is full.

    Empty coffee groundscontainer, clean andreplace it.IMPORTANT: Whenyou remove the drip tray,you MUST empty thegrounds container even ifit is not full.If this is not done, whenyou next make coffee, thecoffee grounds containermay fill up more thanexpected and clog thecoffee machine.

    INSERT GROUNDSCONTAINER

    The grounds containerhas not been replacedafter cleaning.

    Open the service doorand replace the groundscontainer.

    Select a milder strengthor reduce the quantity

    of ground coffee, andrequest a new coffee.

    FILL BEAN CONTAINER The coffee beans haverun out.

    Fill the bean container.

    INSERTINFUSER

    The infuser has notbeen replaced aftercleaning.

    Follow the instructions inthe Cleaning the infuserchapter to assemble theinfuser.

    CLOSE SERVICE DOOR The service door isopen. Close the service door.

    GENERAL ALARM

    The appliance is verydirty inside.

    Follow the instructions inthe "Cleaning andMaintenance" para-graph to clean the coffeemachine thoroughly.

    After cleaning,if the message continuesto appear, contact yourtechnical support centre.

    3.2.2.- Troubleshooting

    This section gives some of the possible malfunctions that could occur.

    If you are unable to solve the problem using the steps described, please contact yourtechnical service centre.

    PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION

    The coffee is not hot.

    The cups have not beenpreheated.

    Rinse the cups with hotwater to heat them orleave them on the cupheating surface for atleast 20 minutes.

    The infuser has cooleddown as 2/3 minutes haveelapsed since the lastcoffee was made.

    Before making coffee,press the button(fig. 29) to heat theinfuser.

    The coffee does not have

    much crema.

    The coffee has beentoo coarsely ground.

    Turn the grindingadjustment knob oneposition anti-clockwisetowards the number 1while the coffee grinder isin operation (fig.7).

    The coffee blend is notsuitable.

    Use a coffee blendfor espresso coffeemachines.

    The coffee is dispensedvery slowly or in drips.

    The coffee has beentoo finely ground.

    Turn the grindingadjustment knob oneposition clockwisetowards the number 7while the coffee grinder isin operation (fig.7). Turnthe grinding adjustmentknob one position untilthe coffee is dispensedcorrectly.

    The coffee is dispensedthrough the service door(A2) instead of through

    the spout nozzles.

    The holes in the nozzlesare clogged with dryground coffee.

    The mobile drawer (A3)

    inside the service door isblocked.

    Clean the mobile

    drawer (A3) thoroughly,especiallythe hinges.

    Water emerges from thespout instead of coffee.

    Clean the funnel (A17)with a wooden or plasticfork, clean the applianceinside.

    The milk is not dispensed

    from the milk spout (B5).

    The intake tube isnot fitted or has beenassembledincorrectly.

    Assemble the intaketube (B4) correctly in therubber washer of the milkcontainer lid.(fig.16).

    The milk is not sufficientlyfrothed.

    The milk container lid isdirty.

    Follow the instructions inthe "Cleaning the milkcontainer" paragraph toclean the lid.

    The milk contains bigbubbles or is dispensed in

    jets from the milk spout.

    The milk is not cold

    enough or is not semi-skimmed.

    Use preferably

    skimmed or semi-skimmed milk that is atrefrigerator temperature(about 5 C). If betterresults are not achieved,change the brand of milk.

    The milk frother pointeris incorrectly adjusted.

    Move thepointer slightly towards"CAFFELATTE" (see the"Preparing cappuccinos"

    paragraph).

    To select the "COUNT MODE, press the "MENU"and "CHANGE" buttons simultaneously and then,plug the machine in.

    The screen displays:1 - the number of coffees made, -the litres of water used.When you press the "NEXT button, the screensequentially displays:

    2 - the number of descaling processes done, -the number of wash cycles performed,3 - the number of cappuccinos made.And it returns to point 1.

    To EXIT the procedure, unplug the machine.

    Every time this process is performed, the machine will be reset, meaningthat the language will have to be selected and the water circuit filled inorder to use it.

    To EXIT the procedure, unplug the machine.

    Remove the coffee bean container,the black protector and the control.

    Turn the white shaft clockwise as far asit will go. Remove the top of the grinderby pulling it upwards.

    Check the position of the white seal (itshould be identical to the image).

    Remove the white plastic ring bypulling upwards.

    Turn the white shaft anti-clockwise asfar as it will go. Pull it to remove it.

    Now you can adjust it. Turn the gearclockwise* to reduce the thickness(finer coffee). Turn the gear anti-clockwiseto increase the thickness (coarser coffee).

    Insert the white shaft, checking that thelarger groove is aligned with the grindergrooves.

    Insert the white ring, checking that itsgrooves are correctly aligned also.

    Turn the shaft CLOCKWISE as far as itwill go to insert the top gear Then, turnthe shaft ANTI-CLOCKWISE as far asit will go.

    (*) before adjusting, check and mark the initial position by taking the position of the metaball that can be seen through the white ring holes as reference.

    Carefully change the adjustment by turning the white ring, at most, one or two steps (oneor two holes) in either direction, as appropriate.
