WELCOME TO THE 2013/14 FESTIVAL OF PERTH RACING

The 2013/14 Festival of Perth Racing will burst into action at glorious Ascot Racecourse on Super Saturday, 23rd November.

In an attempt to further improve the experience at Perth’s major racing event, another black type race has been added to the already stellar card. This year, no fewer than seven black type races will feature on the nine race program - with the $100,000 Listed Placid Ark Stakes (3YO SWP) over 1200 metres added to the day’s racing.

The $1 million Group 1 Carlton Draught Railway Stakes over the famous Ascot mile maintains its position as the marquee race on the day, with the $500,000 Group 1 Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes (1200 metres) the second of the Group 1 events on Super Saturday.

This year the Group 2 Sky Racing WA Guineas receives a boost of $50,000, to now be worth $400,000 for the three year olds over 1600 metres, making it one of the richest Guineas on offer in Australia. The ever popular four-race mare’s series also begins on Super Saturday with the $100,000 Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200 metres), and will culminate on Golden River Developments Perth Cup Day, with the running of the Listed Ascend Sales Trophies La Trice Classic over 1800 metres.

The Listed $100,000 Carbine Club Stakes (1400 metres) and the Listed $100,000 Tattersall’s Cup (2100 metres) will round out what will be a magnifi cent start to the Festival of Perth Racing.

Perth Racing and RWWA are pleased to announce the increase in prize money of all Listed races in the new season to a minimum of $100,000, taking the total stake money on Super Saturday up to a record $2.4 million.

Some of the other feature races to have received stakes increases include the Group 2 WAROA Lee Steere Stakes (WFA 1400 metres) run on Saturday 9th November to $250,000 (an increase of $50,000) and the Group 2 LD Total CB Cox Stakes (WFA 2100 metres) also now worth $250,000 (an increase of $25,000), run on Saturday 21st December.

The Chairman and Committee of Perth Racing, with the support of RWWA, look forward to the continued nationwide support of the 2013/14 Festival of Perth Racing, and we welcome you to Ascot this summer.
