This week we have Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Please pick up our Lenten Journey booklet in church this weekend, which includes schedules for Masses and devoons throughout the season as well as educaonal opportunies and the regulaons of the Catholic Church for fasng and absnence. There will be devoons on Monday evenings in OBrien County and Tuesday evenings in Spencer. You will find Lenten meals in Spencer, Primghar, Sanborn, and Sutherland. Lent may seem daunng or over- whelming to some. I would suggest that you choose one pracce during the season that will help you to grow as a person and enhance your relaonship with Jesus. Pick one pracce, commit to it, and do it well. Lent can help us become beer individ- uals and also our prayers and acvies together can help us grow as a Faith Community. ASH WEDNESDAY: Instead of class on February 26th, all St. Joseph O'Brien County Faith Formaon students will be expected to aend the 6:00 p.m. Ash Wednesday Mass located at St. Joseph Church. Following Mass, children are welcome to leave with their families. SPENCER LENTEN LUNCHES: With the coming of Lent, the Lenten lunches will start next week with Ash Wednesday. We need parish help provid- ing salads and bars on March 18th. OBRIEN COUNTY CONFIRMATION SERVICE PROJECT: All 2020 OBrien County confirmaon candidates are required to take part in a service project opportunity on Saturday, February 29th. Candidates will explore missionary work by offering their willing hands & serving the homeless at the Gospel Mission in Sioux City, IA. Transportaon and meals will be available to all students. LOUIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS: The former Board of Directors of St. Louis Parish in Royal established a memorial scholarship of $750 to be awarded to two deserving high school graduates. Applicant must be a graduang senior who is planning to aend college, who is a member of Sacred Heart Parish of Spencer, and a Catholic in good standing, aending Mass regularly.
