Tucked away on 450 acres adjoining State Gamelands in the Laurel Mountains just off Historic Route 40 in Farmington PA. Fernstone Retreat was built in 1940 by James Hankins a prominent local businessman and used as a mountain retreat and conference center for prominent politicians and business owners of the day.

Some of these notable people include President’s Richard Nixon and Dwight D Eisenhower. The original integrity of the décor and feeling has been preserved throughout the property. The complex is architecturally designed in a hunting lodge motif with the main lodge and game room having cathedral ceilings, rich wood paneling and huge stone fireplaces. Fernstone Retreat offers The White House which sleeps 5 and The Bunk House which sleeps 30.

The White House is a charming 3 Bedroom, 2 full bath. The living area is paneled in wormy chestnut and has hardwood floors. The White House comfortably sleeps 5. Additional sleeping accommodations for 30 are located in the Bunk House and is a short walk away within Fernstone Retreat. The White House amenities include: Private location, Covered front porch, Outdoor fireplace/BBQ pit. THE BUNK HOUSE

The Bunk House offers 4 suites. Each suite sleeps 6 and has private bathroom. There are also additional rustic single beds on the large Bunk House Sleeping Porch which overlooks the waterfall and woods. The Bunk House and Sleeping Porch can accommodate approximately 30. Perfect for large groups. Catering is available on request from the Historic Stone House Restaurant. Whether your interests include boating, golfing, skiing, white water rafting, hiking, biking, hunting, horseback riding, swimming, antiquing or sight seeing you are just minutes away from your destination! Also nearby for your convenience are restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores.
