• Botero was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1932

• He moved to:

• Bogotá in 1951

• New York in 1960

• Paris in 1973 (began creating sculptures)

• Botero won many prizes and held his first art exhibit in 1951 in Bogotá at the National Salon.

• Botero wanted to expand his knowledge about art so he could sculpt and paint better. He also wanted to experiment in different areas of art such as:

• Still life

• Abu Ghraib series

• Pre-Colombian and Spanish colonial

That’s why he traveled all over the world.
