Situation Overview• Widespread total rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 inches, with

local amounts over 30 to 40 inches in higher terrain, are likely over the Hawaiian Islands through the weekend.

• The heavy rainfall will cause areas of life threatening flash flooding and mudslides.

• Tropical storm conditions will continue over the Big Island, Maui and Oahu Counties today. Hurricane conditions are possible over some parts of Maui County and Oahu tonight. Tropical storm or hurricane conditions are possible on Kauai tonight and Saturday.

• Dangerous surf and swells are likely along all Hawaiian Islands south and west facing shores through the weekend. Significant coastal erosion is likely.

• A 2 to 4 foot storm surge may inundate coastal areas; especially during the time of high tides this afternoon (HST).

FEMA HQ NRCC Updates• Production:

• Hazard Exposure Map: This is a heat map of residential parcels, weighted by Social Vulnerability Index and Hazard Intensity (Surge: MEOW, Wind: PDC’s HazusModel Wind Output, Rainfall: QPF 3-Day Outlook dated 8/23/2018 x Distance to River) indicating areas of most likely impacts.

• Web Service:https://tiles.arcgis.com/tiles/XG15cJAlne2vxtgt/arcgis/rest/services/Hazard_Exposure_Map/MapServer

• Currently focusing production efforts on specific streams due to data limitations

• Currently - Alakahi Stream, Honolii Stream, and Wailuku River.

• Brush Fire in Maui – 300 acres impacted, evacuations being ordered.

FEMA HQ NRCC – Remote Sensing• Production:

• AOI Tasking Priorities: The AOIs are based on 5km x 5km grid cells. Priorities range from 1 (highest priority) to 5 (lowest priority). The model is based on residential parcel density weighted by SVI and Hazard Intensity (the same input used for the Hazard Exposure Map). Web Service:https://services.arcgis.com/XG15cJAlne2vxtgt/arcgis/rest/services/AOI_Tasker/FeatureServer
