Hire authority delegated to regions & hdqtrs

Only used to perform DAE related work: specific disasters, emergencies, projects, or activities of a non-continuous nature

Requires SF-52 and supporting documentation for hiring

Individual must meet qualifications for the position

Two types of DAE’sLocal Hire

120 day appointment May be renewed for additional 120 days Salaries set at prevailing local rates

Reservists – activated when need arisesOn FEMA personnel roles for 24 months

Expires 9/30 of every even numbered year May not exceed 18 months in 24 month period
