La importancia de que los niños compartan la Navidad en familia no solo radica en el

hecho de recibir regalos. Es una época en la que los pequeños esperan recibir demos-traciones de cariño, afecto y compar r

momentos inolvidables con sus seres queri-dos…

La solidaridad, el afecto y la identidad son características que se

fomentan con esta celebración. Acompañamiento, ejemplo y amor.. La celebración navideña es una oportunidad para que los

niños “afiancen su identidad, estima y valía. Y es una ocasión extraordinaria que tienen los adultos para demostrar no solo con objetos materiales, sino afectivos, qué tan importante es el pequeño para ellos”, afirma Paulo Acero Rodrí-guez, sicólogo especialista en trauma y resiliencia e investigador de la Universidad Manuela Beltrán. Para fomentar este espíritu navideño en sus hijos, lo más importante es el acompañamiento, el ejemplo y el fomento de actividades lúdicas y religiosas. “Todas las culturas y las familias se establecen alrededor de rituales, los cuales generan identidad y pertenencia en el ser humano”, explica el investigador. Cuando un niño se involucra en la celebración, siente acercamiento y pertenencia hacia su grupo familiar. Marcela Ariza, directora del Instituto de la Familia de la Universidad de la Sabana, enfatiza en que la alegría verdadera no requiere de grandes montajes, que pueden llevar a la saturación mental y al agotamiento físico. “Momentos tranqui-los, en grata compañía, vividos con humor y optimismo, facilitan la expansión del espíritu, dan descanso al cuerpo y traen paz al corazón del ser humano”, afirma. Importancia de los valores Los pequeños que viven la Navidad en familia fomentan el valor de la solidaridad, la seguridad y la unión. Por ejemplo, un regalo debe servir para generar valores afectivos basados en dar y recibir y en compartir con otros niños. También se fomenta la capacidad de socialización. “Un pequeño que tiene la oportunidad de tener afecto socializa mejor y es más seguro”, señala el sicólogo. Incluso, en esta época se despierta el sentimiento de solidaridad. Según Marcela Ariza, “es importante aprovechar las festividades para acompañar a pobres, huérfanos, ancianos y enfermos. Estos momentos jamás se olvidan y les permiten a los niños demostrar que puede hacer feliz a alguien, sin necesidad de gastar demasiado”. Por eso, si el niño vive las tradiciones de manera amorosa, bajo el ejemplo de sus padres, podrá transmitirles a sus hijos la importancia de vivir la Navidad en familia.

Pope Francis Prayer Intentions for December 2017 The Elderly Thattheelderly,sustainedbyfamiliesandChristiancommunities,mayapplytheirwisdomandexperiencetospreadingthefaithandformingthenewgenerations.

GiftsfromtheGivingTreehavebeenwrappedanddelivered.EverytimeIcometoyouwitharequestIamgratefullyastoundedatyourgenerosity.Whatyougavetothoseinneedwasbothabundantandofhighquality.LookingthroughthegiftsasIpickedthemupandwrappedthem illedmewithjoyasIthoughtofhowthosewhoopenedthegiftswouldfeel.Oneofthesevenfamiliesthatreceivedthesegiftswasafamilyoffour.Themother irstcametousaskingfor$40tostartlegalproceedingsagainstherabusivehusbandandprotectherthreechildren.Sheandthreechildren,undertheageofeleven,werelivinginasubstandardtrailerinaSultantrailerparkwhilesheworkedasmanyhoursasshecouldinthefoodindustry.Becauseshewasalwayshesitanttoaskforanymorehelp,theVincentiansassignedtoprovideassistancemostlygaveheremotionalsupport.Asour“heartsbeatwiththeheartbeatofthepoor”(Rule1.9),wesoughtoutyourhelpthroughtheGivingTreetoprovidesomethingextraforChristmas.WithChristmascomingandthegenerosityoftheSt.MaryFamily,ChristmaspresentsweregiventoeachofherchildrenfromtheGivingTree.WhenthegiftsweredelivereditwasdiscoveredthatthefamilyhadmovedoutofthetrailerandintoasubsidizedapartmentinMarysville.Themotherandchildrenwereverygratefulforwhatyouprovided.Ourvisitscanbeverysatisfyingaswedirectlyseethegoodthatcancomefromasmallamountofcompassion.╀ StVincentdePaulmeetingJanuary11,fellowshipandtreats.Comecheckusout!
