HELPFUL INFORMATION

How to behave: Any misdemeanors are punished, just as in any other place, with a night in the caboose, or a fine or whatever. Proof that things are never too unruly is that you will see many young children with their families strolling among all the hustle and bustle

Watch Out: You have to be very careful and keep an eye all the time, if you don't want to be badly injured; to run in front of bulls of 500 and 600 kgs of weight it's not a joke. Be sure that you will never feel the same sensation, but think twice before you run

Drinking:And during the fiestas don't get upset if someone steps on you, douses you with drink, bumps into you or when the barman serves you up the drink in a cheap plastic glass. That is all par for the course in the old part of town. Should you wish for something more neat and chic, then you'd better head out to some of the suburban districts like San Juan or Iturrama.

¿WHO IS SAN FERMÍN?

Seems he was the son of the local head man when Pamplona was just another city belonging to the

great Roman Empire back in the third century A.D. or thereabouts. A french Bishop -San Saturnino- came down to bring the Good News to the local

heathens. He did such a good job on San Fermín that this guy decided to go up to France - to Toulouse to

do some more learning and to become a bishop. Then he returned to help out with the good work that San Saturnino had started and then after a

period he went back up to France to spread the word around the area of Amiens.

HISTORY OF SAN FERMÍN

The origin of the fiesta of San Fermín goes back to the Middle Ages and is related to

three celebrations: religious ceremonies in honour of San Fermín, which intensified from

the 12th century onwards, trade fairs and bullfights, which were first documented in the 14th century. Initially, the fiesta San Fermín

was held on October 10th, but in 1591.
