Fellow PTGA > What is Hypnosis? ------------------------------------------ Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation where you feel comfortable and secure, and can accept information that is being fed into the sub concious mind directly. It is a state between waking and sleeping where the patient can feel physical sensations and yet be aware of internal impressions. You can even see as well as hear and still be in a state of hypnosis. Therapy success depends on the team work between the patient and the therapist. Q. Can everybody be hypnotised? A. Yes. Hypnosis is an entirely natural state of mind which everyone goes through on the way from waking to sleeping. As you relax down into sleep, the thinking mind becomes unconscious first, then after a short period of time, the instinctive part of the mind also becomes unconscious. For that short period of time you are in a hypnotic state of mind. The hypnotherapist can help you attain this state, and can control the depth of relaxation within that state. If you wish to be hypnotised you can be, but nobody can be hypnotised against their will. Q. What can hypnosis treat? A. Treatment can be divided into four types. 1. Compulsive behaviour and habits: Under this general heading are such problems as nail bitting, stuttering, smoking, over eating, gambling and many more. 2. Nervous and neurosis problems: These include anxiety, nervous tension, insomnia and nervous asthma, shyness, all sorts of phobias and most neurotic behaviour. 3. Ego boost: Included in this group are self confidence, memory retention and concentration exercises, self hypnosis, relaxtion techniques and all the training methods for self improvement. 4. Physical: Painless childbirth, general and local pain control. Mental attitudes to illness may be modified to promote healing and allow the mind to be actively involved in promoting well being of the body. The big advantage here being that healing is promoted rapidly and unhampered by drugs. Q. How safe is Hypnosis? A. A qualified hypnotherapist has the professional training to know how hypnosis should be employed as well as when it should (and shouldn’t) be used. Your hypnotherapist’s qualifications are your assurance of safety. You will never say or do anything under hypnosis that you would not say or do when fully awake. You can wake yourself up at anytime you wish – the hypnotic state is maintained by mutual co-operation between you and your hypnotherapist. Nigel has three university qualifications in allied health- complementary medicine, myotherapy (muscular therapy and dry needling) and applied science (podiatry). After graduating from Myotherapy Nigel successfully ran a sports injury/muscular therapy clinic in Victoria for almost 10 years, during which time he developed a keen interest in biomechanics and lower limb function. During this time he also worked alongside podiatrists at the Australian Institute of Sport, treating a range of lower limb injuries, which stimulated him to further his studies and enrol in the Podiatry degree at the University of Western Sydney. He has now been a podiatrist for 14 years. Jessica Pike studied Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney and has been working as a Physio for 15 years. During this time she has worked in the UK, Sydney, Newcastle, Taree and Forster in a variety of hospital and private practice settings. She really enjoys helping people recover from injuries and surgery, and also provides a home visit service for those who need it. 2014 not only moves into the Chinese Year of the Horse, but for me, celebrates 30 years in the practice of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I have seen a lot of changes throughout the years. 2012 saw the national registration of Acupuncturists, making sure practitioners were up to the standard required for practise with suitable qualifications. Students are now able to study for a Degree in Health Science, majoring in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is a Health Science where fine needles are inserted into specific nerve points. This can influence the function of nerves, muscles, organs and the circulation of blood. How does it work? The answer to this is based on theory along with scientific research. Research shows how Acupuncture can influence the chemicals of the brain such as serotonin, dopamine and endorphins. I believe Acupuncture enhances the body’s own healing mechanisms by improving nerve function and blood circulation. How many treatments are needed? After more than 30 years experience, I can devise a treatment program depending on the ailment. For example, sciatica and lower back pain may need 4 to 6 treatments, whereas chronic sinusitis may only need 2-3 treatments. Acupuncture can completely heal some ailments and offer pain management for more chronic disorders. Does it hurt? Sharp, thin, disposable needles are inserted into specific points of the body depending on the ailment. There can be a sensation of pressure with virtually no pain at all. Want to know more? SOCCERGreen Point Football Club

THE newly formed under 14s girlsGreen Point Bulldogs team travelled toMoorland on Saturday to play againstWauchope Waratahs.

The team, which has only been play-ing together for three weeks, consists ofgirls aged 11 to 14 years.

The team went into the game againstWauchope as underdogs having losttheir games in the previous two weeks.

The girls sure had something to proveand played an awesome game with fan-tastic team work. The team constantlybacked each other up whilst protectingtheir injured goal keeper, Shari from nothaving to do too many difficult saves onthe day.

Shari was clearly happy with theteam’s performance with the big smileon her face. The goal scorers were

Akaysha Simon scoring two goals, KyraSimon also with two and Tash Johnsonscoring one.

The girls worked well together upfront and were hungry to score goals. They were backed up by the club’s‘never say die’ mid-fielders, Emily Absa-lom and Beth Callaghan and wingersMeredith Walker and Jade Arnold.

The backs consisting of Indi Simon,Allie Deudney, Gabby Smart and VitaPereira-Odlum kept Wauchope awaywith feistiness and agility while Vita andGabby kept kicking the ball up the fieldout of the danger zone. Well done Bull-dogs. The club is proud of the girl’ssportsmanship and coming together asa team.

This Saturday (May 17) the girls playthe top team, Port United at Lake StForster. Please come along and cheerthem on.

Forster teams reach semis

Dolphins defeat RatzFORSTER-Tuncurry won the duel, mak-

ing Saturday’s last-second 14-12 defeatof Manning River almost as galling for theRatz as losing last year’s Lower Mid NorthCoast rugby union grand final.

Five minutes into stoppage time, theRatz led two tries to one and 12-11 atTaree Rugby park, poised for a smallmeasure of revenge, only for the fatalwhistle for the penalty from Port Mac-quarie referee, Duncan Clarke, conve-niently beside the Ratz’ goal.

For the Dolphins’ captain and ringmaster, Matt Nuku, it was the gift of hisgoal-kicking career, the win directing histeam into a more secure early competi-tion position after their 22-26 first-roundsetback against Gloucester last Saturdayweek.

The Gloucester Cockies came back toearth with an uncomfortable thump onSaturday, beaten 14-43 by the WallambaBulls while Myall Coast powered home, decisive winners over the under-strengthOld Bar, 84-5.

When five-eighth Jacob Maurirere capi-talised on lax Dolphins defense to chargeover for the Ratz’ 75th minute try, con-verted from a sharp angle by skipper andNo 8, Sam Hartnett, it appeared the Dol-phins’ lineout supremacy and ball-run-ning had failed to bear fruit.

But, minute by minute, the clock tickedwell past the scheduled 80 minutes, deepinto injury time, allowing the Dolphins towork the ball back into their opposition’squarter with referee Clarke eventuallyfinding fault with a Ratz defender “failingto roll away and off-side”.

It was a 14-man Ratz team whichtrooped off, having lost their speedy backMatt Hardcastle in the 66th minute forabuse of the referee, an offense aggra-vated by the player foul-mouthing refereeClarke as he left the field.

This was a different Dolphins team tothe combination beaten by Gloucester.Into the pack came MNC Axemen’s propBen Manning, prolific goal-kicking loose-head Lee Crozier, strong-running back-rowers Sean Hassett and Troy Haines andon to the reserves bench flanker SteveStanton and winger Justin Hassett .

It was not an ambush but to observersof the Dolphins’ two games it certainlylooked like it though there were similari-ties in the tackling quality with 24 tackles

missed against the Ratz and 33 againstthe Cockies.

A heavy first-half penalty count againstthe Ratz (10-3) enabled Crozier to driveover two important goals, with Maurirerelaunching an attack near the line just onhalf-time for winger Corey McFarlane toburst through a high tackle for the try inthe corner.

While Sean Hassett, lock NaibukaNaqito and prop Colin Harris made dam-aging runs, hooker James Clarke was theheart and soul of the scrum, an outstand-ing man-of-the-match.

Skipper Nuku initiated an attackingraid, carried on by prop Manning and fin-ished by No 8 Hassett’s powerful run intothe right wing corner after an hour. Mis-takes were plentiful, but the game’s in-tensity, fluctuations and closeness ofscores maintained interest throughout.Predictably, the outcome emerged in in-jury time.

Forster-Tuncurry 14 (S Hassett try; LCrozier 2 pen goals M Nuku pen goal)beat Manning RIver 12 (C McFarlane JMaurirere tries; S Hartnett goal).

Yoga of the Heart Inner Peace

Outer Strength

A myth of yoga is that it only suits the fl exible – it is quite the opposite! Yoga helps everyone gain fl exibility, physical strength and promotes inner peace. “The ultimate source of comfort and peace is within ourselves” Dalai Lama. Hello I`m Vickie Gerken from Yoga of the Heart. My greatest passion is teaching and sharing yoga with others. I believe every class should offer something new, be creative and joyful. Repetitive sequencing creates stagnation, whereas creativity stimulates our brain and nourishes our hearts. My study of energy medicine gives me a greater understanding of how the mind and body interrelate. Classes include specifi c breathing and heart opening techniques that increases energy in the body, and develops a positive mindset and a relaxed peaceful disposition. Classes are supportive and friendly. Beginners, young and mature to the more experienced are all welcome. If you have children or dependants and need or wish to practise in your own home, or with a few friends, I can come to you. Classes can be tailored to meet your specifi c needs.A new restorative class starts in June
