FY 2017
TAKE A LOOK AT THE IMPACT
YOU’VE MADE THIS YEAR!
NEW PROGRAMS
WOW! What an amazing year for NourishNC! We have greatly expanded upon our mission and our vision “to be anywhere and everywhere hungry children in New Hanover County need us.” This past year we have added 123 more children and 6 schools to our Backpack Program. We have also added several new programs (see next page) and quadrupled the amount fresh fruits and veggies that we provide to our kids. In short, we served more children, more food, in more places, than ever before!
This report is for you-the volunteer, the donor, the advocate. It’s for all those who are bold enough to take action in the fight against hunger in our community. The tremendous impact detailed within is the result of your hard work and support. NourishNC wants you to know how we use your time, energy, and donations to provide nutritious food to hungry children right here in our community.
Let’s continue to do great things together.
Steve McCrossan, Executive Director
Greetings from the Executive Director

Farmer’s MarKIDWe take free fresh produce to
wherever kids need us: food deserts,
parks, after school programs, high
need schools, and other nonprofits.
Children receive “Nourish Bucks” to
shop for farm fresh produce. Each
child receives 10 to 15 lbs. of produce
and healthy recipes for preparing the
food at home with their family!
Thanksgiving DinnerWe wanted our kids to have
Thanksgiving dinner with their family
so we upped our game. This past year
we provided our kid’s and their
families with a “take & bake” dinner
complete with a foil baking pan,
turkey, fresh fruits and veggies,
traditional fixings and easy recipes!
Breaking bread together builds strong
social bonds and families for our kids.
Feed Your CommunityIn accordance with our vision to be
anywhere and everywhere hungry
kids need us we instituted this new
initiative. This program provides
schools, community centers, and
nonprofits that serve children with
healthy snacks, fresh produce, and
emergency food pantries.

social workers, family counselors, and teachers are on the front lines of our backpack program. They identify and enroll students as well as distribute the backpacks. We couldn’t do our work without their hard work.
Donations It takes a village to
feed hungry children and our village really stepped up to help build happy and healthy children. Businesses, faith based groups, and the community at large donated cash, food, equipment, and time in an effort to help NourishNC fight child hunger. Thanks Y’all!
