FEBRUARY BOOK DISPLAY:

Blind Date with a Book

This is one of our most popular book displays! We will select a wide range of books and wrap them up so you aren't able to see which

book you have selected. Many patrons have found a

new favorite author thanks to a "blind date" with a book!

NOTES FROM FRIENDSAt our quarterly meeting held January 3, The Friends of S.A.D.L. approved spending $1,000.00 to fund the Dolly Parton Imaginat ion Library. We also approved $1,500.00 for the purchase of new books this year and $200.00 for supplies and materials for the Princess Party. If you can volunteer to help at the Feb. 23 Princess Party, sign up at the front desk. With successful 2018 fundraisers, donations, and the receipt of $1,000.00 from the Baker/Taylor award, we are financially in great shape to help with physical improvements to the library this year including drywall repair, interior painting, and lighting enhancements to the entryway and an outside fixture. The Friends also will fund up to $500.00 for two staff members to attend a conference in April for Small and Rural Libraries. We are happy to help and look forward to opportunities this year to continue as partners in aiding our Shelby Area Dist rict Library.

As we look ahead to another great year, dates for our three major fundraisers have been chosen. June 1 will kick off with our popular Plant Exchange and Garden Sale event under the leadership of Diana Clark. Co-Chairs Val Lau and Mary Ellen Heyde will oversee the Good Used Book Sale August 2 ? 3. Celebrat ion of the Trees is set for December 5 ? 8 with Cindy McKinnon and her legion of volunteers transforming the Library into a decorated Winter Wonderland. We are in need of a chairperson for the Holiday Bazaar which has been running concurrently with the Celebrat ion of the Trees so let Cindy know if you are available to help.

Other ideas for projects and fundraisers are being discussed such as a fall Scarecrow Contest . We?ll look at options when we meet April 11 at 5:00 for our next quarterly Friends of S.A.D.L. meet ing. If you would like to attend but find the 5:00 meeting time too early due to work commitments, please let us know! We are discussing the idea of moving future meeting times to 5:30, 6:00, or even 6:30 pm if there is enough interest. You can leave a note for Cindy at the circulation desk expressing your preference. In honor of Nat ional Library Week, we?ll be enjoying pizza at the April 11 meet ing so we hope you can attend!

And finally, February is ?Love Your Library Month!? Show your love and receive a ?kiss? from the Library! Donate any amount to Friends of S.A.D.L. and get your chocolate kiss during the month of February.
