• SIP is NOT simple anymore 25 RFCs - RFC 3261 longest ever by IETF

• Still NO cheap devices, but getting there

• Install base & video-conferencing STILL dominated by H.323

• Firewall/NAT problems

• CANNOT build a service on SIP alone PSTN will be around for awhile
