NAMALAKA NEWS FROM PASTOR FR. CHRISTOPHER CHATSOGOLA “Greetings from St. Joseph (Namalaka) Parish. I have read the bulletin with thanks and appreciation for the

hard work that you are doing as a community. I’d like to inform you the quotation for electricity has now been

delivered to us. The whole project costs K6,000,000 (US8,000). This includes the cost of the electrician con-

tractor who will do wiring for both Father’s house and the maize mill house. The Bishop has notified us that the

money for feeding the children program has arrived in the Diocese. He directed me and relevant authorities to

meet Fr. Clement, financial administrator. to start working on it. I am sure they will start eating porridge on

Monday. Convey my sincere thanks and appreciation to the committee, Fr. Jim and all the Christians for their

commitments.” All the best, God Bless St. Brendan and St. Joseph

Made for Happiness: The Beatitudes Try to imagine what it would be

like to just sit and listen to Jesus

talk about the Kingdom of God.

You would be so happy to hear

his voice that you would never be

bored. At the beginning of Jesus’

Sermon on the Mount, he gave us

the Beatitudes, ways to be happy

here on earth. Try on some of

these “attitudes” this month and

see if your world looks brighter!

Matthew 5: 3-11: We know we

need God. (Sabemos que confiamos en dios.) We are sad now, but

God will comfort us. (Tristes hoy, dios nos conforta.) We want to

be humble. (Queremos ser humildes.) We want to work for justice.

(Queremos trabajar para la justicia.) We want to show mercy to oth-

ers. (Queremos tratar a los otros con la Misericordia.) We want our

hearts to be pure. (Queremos corazones puros.) We want to be

peacemakers. (Queremos ser consiliadores.) We want to do what is

right even if we suffer. (Queremos hacer lo bien aunque sufrimos.)

When people make fun of us because of our faith, we know that we

will be rewarded in heaven. (Cuando la gente se burlan de nosotros

por nuestra fe, sabemos que tenemos la esperanza de la vida eterna.)

The Tower of Babel . How many lan-guages can you speak? How many lan-guages have you heard about? Read Genesis 11:1-9, and compare it to Acts 2: 1-12. The story in Genesis is about a time when everyone spoke the same language. They all decided to build a wall that would reach right up to heaven. The ac-count in Acts tells that every group of people had its own lan-guage, but on the day of Pentecost, the Apostles were given the Holy Spirit. Then they were able to speak in the languages of visi-tors to Jerusalem. God gives us the gift of language. Let’s remem-ber that our speech should be made up of words that praise God and help other people.
