Stewardship Message “I’m going to pray about it.” How many times have we

said that to ourselves when we counter a problem, experience a crisis, or just need help? Prayer is the best

thing to do, but remember, prayer is an active process, not a passive one. When we pray and after we pray, we

aren’t supposed to sit back as a spectator and watch God do His thing. We have to participate also. Prayer is

talking and listening to God. When we listen, we need to “actively listen” to how God is calling us to use our gifts and talents. As St. Paul said to the Corinthians, “we are

God’s co-workers…”

Guatemala Mission Needs Our Help

Our Spokane Guatemala Mission Commission is raffling off a

beautiful hand-appliqued quilt to raise funds for restoring a

hurricane-damaged religious education facility in the Maya

village of Ixtahuacan. Families in the area have no funds to buy

windows, doors, etc. but residents from 29 surrounding “caserios” are working hours to

help repair floors, walls, and holes in the roof. Please help us meet our STM goal of $800 by

buying a raffle ticket (or two @2 each) when they are on sale

after the Masses this weekend!

Dear Parishioners: On behalf of the Desmond Family, I

would like to express my sincere thanks to Father Pat, the luncheon committee, all who sent Mass cards to our family, and

everyone who attended Bill’s funeral and consoled our family. We are sincerely

grateful. Charlotte Desmond

2019-2020 School Registration begins soon! Why a Catholic School?

Parents choose Catholic schools for their children because of high academic standards, values-added education, and a safe school environment. At St. Thomas More Catholic School teachers are not only devoted to the academic excellence of your child but more importantly, we work with you as a family to develop the closes possible relationship with God.

Why St. Thomas More? Catholic Identity – Our Mission is “To Know, Love, and Serve God” in all we say, do, and pray. Academic Excellence – We take pride that we teach students to “learn how to learn”. Community – Caring for one another, for each other’s families, and appreciating the unique gifts and talents that

each student and their family brings to St. Thomas More is our way of living out the teachings of the Gospels. Service – St. Thomas More Catholic School believes strongly that the words of the gospel are meant to be learned,

studied, and PUT INTO ACTION! C+STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, with a Catholic component

A C+STEM program provides a focus for students to show appreciation, care, and reverence for God’s creation. This program begins with a fully installed and equipped science lab and a spiraling curriculum. We have a strong program of teaching coding and robotics beginning in Kindergarten and growing throughout the grades. We have a vegetable garden and a greenhouse to grow food that is used for our St. Vincent de Paul ministry and for Catholic Charities programs to help those in need. Our greenhouse program is beginning a new program in teaching the children about aquaponics – the harvesting of fish and growing of food in a closed environment through the entire year – this program will teach students about self-sufficiency and best practices for using God’ resources for the good of others. This program works with students to learn real-world problem solving skills.

We have classes in Art, Music, and Physical Education. We have programs that teach Spanish as a foreign language and outdoor

education programs that combine hands-on learning about our environment as well as teaching and learning about cooperative learning and leadership skills.
