PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

Our Lady of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Parish is a people of living faith rooted in the Gospel,

centered on the Eucharist and led by the Holy Spirit.

We are inspired by the example of Mary to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by ministering to all.

Annunciation Parish Website: www.annunciationparishabq.org

FROM THE PASTOR FEB. 3, 2013 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL

Many of you will have already received a letter from the Archbishop requesting your support for the 2013 Annual Catholic Appeal entitled “Faith is Our Gift to Share”. If you have received this letter with your personalized ACA pledge form, you may use this form and mail it in directly or bring it here to place in the second collection for the ACA this weekend or next. We are beginning our own in-pew solicitation this weekend and you may also choose to use the envelopes provided for you here in church. After last year’s successful campaign, in which we brought in a total of $283,580, with a rebate of $138,580 to the parish, we hope to grow our participation even further. Last year, 630 of our parish’s 2000 plus families contributed to the ACA producing an average gift of $450.

As we reflect on the 2013 theme of “Faith is Our Gift to Share”, let us be mindful that one way of practicing faith shar-ing is through almsgiving. This is our opportunity for almsgiving beyond the parish– helping educate our seminarians for the priesthood, forming our candidates for the diaconate, and reaching out to the needy in many ways throughout the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Our Archdiocesan goal for this year is $143,000, which we intend to double to $284,000, with the overage returning to the parish as a rebate. As everyone can do something, let us get every family involved in pledg-ing to the Annual Catholic Appeal 2013. SCOUTING SUNDAY As we celebrate Catholic Scouting in our parish, I am grateful for all of our Scouts and the adult spon-sors and all of the scouting families. Troop 280 has been such a blessing for our youth and for our par-ish as they are formed in virtues and values which develop true Christians and good citizens. I am pleased to announce the formation of a new girls’ scouting group called American Heritage Girls. This is a relatively new group for girls which is based on godliness and virtues in accord with Christianity, a foundation for our nation. Please give your encouragement and your support to all the scouts you see here at Annunciation and join them for the pancake breakfast this Sunday. THE LIGHT IS ON FOR YOU

“The Light is on for You” is an initiative of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and many other dioceses to allow all Catholics to avail themselves of the Sacra-ment of Reconciliation during this Year of Faith. Confession is a wonderful opportunity to set aside our sinful ways and to draw closer to Our Lord. Con-fessions will be held every Friday during Lent, except Good Friday, from 7:00 p.m. on, here at Annunciation and in most parishes of the Archdiocese. Come

to receive the grace of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and rejoice in the Lord’s mercy in your life. RETROUVAILLE: MARRIED TO A STRANGER Are you married to a stranger? Do you feel alone in your marriage? Do you argue or have you just stopped talk-ing to each other? Do you dread going home? Does talking about it only make matters worse? Retrouvaille, which is French for “to find again”, has helped countless couples experiencing marital difficulties at all levels, including disillusionment and deep misery, find a new path together. For confidential information about register-ing for the program beginning with a weekend on Feb. 15-17, call 890-3495 or go to www.HelpOurMarriage.com.

SCRIPTURE ALPHABET “Q” 1 Thes. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. “R” Jas 4:7 Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
