Dear colleagues and friends,
On behalf of the Scientific Committee, we are delighted to welcome you inVenice (Italy) for the 9th European SEEG Course. This 9th edition will focus on «SEEG in lesional epilepsies: is the lesion guilty until proveninnocent ?”and will follow the same organization as that of the eight previous courses. It will be primarily based on computer-assisted practical training sessionswhere each attendee can access and analyse numerical neuroimaging andvideo-EEG/SEEG data, as well as on extensive plenary discussions. The theoretical part of the course will start with a comprehensive lecture on the most common pathological substrates associated withdrug-resistant focal epilepsy, followed by an overview of relevant animal models of lesional epilepsy, and then a focus on specific pathologies.FCD and Tumours will be addressed both in terms of basic mechanisms of epileptogenesis and interictal and ictal EEG patterns in humans.Special attention will also be drawn to nodular heterotopia and polymicrogyria. This theoretical framework will be illustrated by the presented cases, chosen for their peculiar and “exceptional” features. We hope that this 9th round will be as successful as the previous ones andlook forward to welcoming you in the beautiful city of Venice.
With our warmest regards
Welcome
